Is Soul Reaver a long game? I really only should buy one of them so if the first lasts a while, I'll save 2 for later.

I hear Thief 2 is the best but I can only afford one of these, would I be missing anything essential if I skipped the first one?

Last question is about Anachronox, is the leveling up of characters linear or is there customization?

Thanks!

I have yet to play this myself, so I can't say anything useful about it.

You can skip the 1st game if you want, I don't recommend it however.

The leveling of the stats are automatic, you do select special abilities.

About Thief 2 - yes and no. I think you can easily start with the second game and completely miss out the first, but a lot of in-game dialogues might seem nonsensical without some background knowledge. But the story leaves most of the stuff from the first game in the closet and starts a fresh story arch, so after a few early missions you will probably feel right at home.
Soul Reaver 1 - it depends on how good you are at solving puzzles and if you get lost often( the game world is pretty large, considering how old the game is). My humble advice would be to buy both, because once you finish the first, you'll want to start the second as soon as possible.

Thief 2 - Yeah, you can play it before the first

Anachronox - Dunno, never played it.
Howlongtobeat.com states that Soul Reaver takes about 10 hours, which sounds about right. The thing about that game is that it ends in a really suspenseful cliff hanger and you will want to play SR2 immediately, so keep that in mind.

What game, and what happens when you try to play it? The more details, the easier it'll be to help you.
