24.99€ (50p off) or 14.99 USD (50p off) on Steam today. Some greedy a... policy!
In australia it is 45USD (yes USD not AUD, they don't even bother charging the local currency, just hike up the number.
Nothing new here. In fact, IIRC there were more outrageous price differences - something about 40€ or 50€ vs. $20 or $25, but don't quote me on that.
Yea, well, RAGE is not available in my region :D

What happened to the Apogee Software I knew that sold Commander Keen, Cosmo's Cosmic Adventure, Duke Nukum [sic!], Monster Bash, Benny the Bookworm, Dark Ages, Captain Comic etc. for the same price worldwide?

Oh, wait, Bethesda bought their remains at some point...

Yeah, our pre-owned money isn't good for them.
I was going to buy a copy a the video game store the other day, but the guy working there didn't let me buy it. He said it was not worth the price. He said something about it falling apart towards the end or something. I said I didn't mind because I enjoyed the gameplay in the demo, but he was pretty adamant about not selling me a copy, even though they had a very large stock of used copy's. I figured I would let him talk me out of it. I'm a regular there, and I really like how that means they treat me well. I didn't want to hurt the guys feelings or anything by not taking his advice. I told him that I'll just wait for it go drop under 10 USD before I get it. It doesn't look like that's going to take more than another month or two with this game.

It's still disputed and rather unclear, how much the different participants (Valve / title publisher / dev) are involved in setting the prices on Steam.

As much as I dislike how it's been handled, I can't say that it bothers me anymore. I've set the price I'm willing to pay on certain titles in my mind and can wait until they get close enough to it.
Besides, it's good to have a few games to look out for at the next sale. :)

Funny that you should mention this

I remember reading an interview with Gabe Newell about how many publishers did not release games in Russia at all because of "Piracy" and so on

Now that Steam has launched over there it's Valve's second biggest EU market, after Germany I think

Captain Comic is freeware, as released by it's original designer Michael Denio, who had nothing to do with Epic Megagames or Apogee or iD or Softdisk. As for Apogee's old games, you can still get them off of 3DRealm's website. They're selling through RegNow.
If anyone wants to get RAGE for $15 but is in Europe, I can trade a copy of it for Gotham City Impostors (worth $15 even in Europe). Just let me know :)

The probable reason for this is that most of the 'BUY SERIAL KEYS' sites buy the RU ones en-mass.
