With 1 week to go before my midyear give-away I though we could have a run up to it (shameless publicity)

So over the course of the day I shall place part of a code for a GOG, If I can be arsed I will do 1 full code per day.

The first code is for Fallout

"XEWM"

The code will be put in the correct order so if you reall want it I suggest keeping a redeem window open and copy-pasting it into a word document so your ready to go.

Next part will be in a while but the full code should be available before 22.30 (10 hours time)

I should totally be lame, purchase a little 128 MB VPS and run a script that gets the General forum once a second, parses the information, opens each unread thread and checks the unread postings for a Regex match of /[A-Z]{4}-[A-Z]{4}-[A-Z]{4}-[A-Z]{4}/ and upon hit instantly tries to redeem ;)
I doubt that you could beat THAT :p

Probably not, but it would cost more for you to do this then to buy the game outright. :\
owned xD

AdiJager: owned xD
But not really

Uh?
I get a 128 MB VPS with 500 GB transfer for $1.25 a month.
As for writing the script, even with me being a failure, it shouldn't take THAT long and I might write it off as exercise... :p
That'd mean I need to grab one $6 code each five, or one $10 code each eight month to get even. Rather very realistic ;)
I could even get extremely lame and use a 128 MB 250GB VPS for $10 per year ;)
If my potential script wouldn't be able to grab a single code in 365 days, there's something seriously wrong :p

Yes but while your thing is grabbing the code i'll be entering it into the box in the time it takes your program to realize it's a code and do it digitally. :P

GameRager: in the time it takes your program to realize it's a code and do it digitally. :P
A simple Regex operation on a small text like a forum posting shouldn't take longer than a few milliseconds. The HTTP GET operations would likely be the bottleneck there instead, so I'd say you could estimate around 1150-1200 milliseconds on a worst case scenario for grabbing and redeeming the code ;)

And I should really stop the chatting on poor reaver894's thread, as I won't get that lame anyway ;)

Chatting is fine, Im told your script wont work however as im posing bits. Not my subject so IDK I just wanted to see if there was a way to get around it :-P

That's one second more than I need. :P
