wpegg recently gifted me LBA 1 + 2 in the same package. I already had the former so the gift code is still valid for it.

I'm also throwing in a Strategy First game from the promo, so let me know which one tickles your fancy.

The contest:
Recommend a GOG that you feel passionate about. Can be a couple of sentences, can be a paragraph. If you've posted a review to a GOG that you feel strongly about, feel free to copy / paste it here. Try to sell your game well!
The contest will end before the promo does but I might end it sooner.

OT: What do you guys think about Darkstar One? Yay? Nay?
Beyond Good and Evil, a game long loved by those who played it, a treasure waiting for those who haven't experienced it, this title is unique in it's protagonist, an independent photographer and Reporter named Jade trying to edge out a living for herself and her island home of orphans. When the Domz, a long feared and long dreaded intergalactic threat strikes her home, she becomes embroidered in a conspiracy that threatens to destroy the planet's survivors. With her wits, camera and friend Pey'j, Jade becomes the only hope to finding out who the Domz really are, and why the intergalactic federation has begun to fail in stopping the Domz as the attacks intensify.

PSYCHONAUTS

I haven't played it in a really long time but it's my favorite 3d platformer ever. It makes you feel like a kid again. Great voice acting and unique character design make this little game a hell of a ride. I remember i knew nothing about it when i started playing it and it was a nice surprise. Not much more to say without spoiling it.
If you like strategies you should definitely play King's Bounty. It seems to me like the latest king of old school best fantasy strategies (Heroes of Might and Magic) just with modern look added. The game has everything it should: some nice story, micromanagement, stats, magic and in the end: decisions, decisions, decisions. Has also replay value to some degree: maybe story is "stable" but items, enemies are generated at random so after playing it once, nice amount of new games will be still interesting.

FraterPerdurabo: Recommend a GOG
Well, my heart is really torn. I really like this one very much, it's my latest passion in gaming but.... I like King's Bounty very much as a game, just I am not sure if should should buy it on GOG. The problem that GOG version is "a little" different. I mean It plays well, I can not see any other bugs but it is like to have inner feeling that I'm playing not original just "3rd party copy" ;)

Anyway, thank you for the contest. Take above as my entry in "promo part" of competition.
From Strategy First promo I can recommend couple of GoG's:
Disciples 2 - because it has charming visuals and pretty good campaign
Sacred Gold - one of the best hack'n'slash rpgs from back of the days
Flatout - Fun fun fun... did I say Fun? :D
I don't want to recomend a game, I will recomend a game series: Gabriel Knight. One of my favourite adventure games.

These games were developed by Sierra in the 90s, and writed and designed by Jane Jensen.
This series is composed for three games:
* Gabriel Knight SInns of the Fathers
* Gabriel Knight 2 The Beast Within
* Gabriel Knight 3 Blood of the Sacred Blood of the Damned
One of the most unique thing about these games are story and characters. The story is a blending of real facts with some supernatural items. For example in Gabriel Knight 2 we have: a hunter club, Richard Wagner, King Ludwig 2 and werewolves.

One last curious thing, It's one of the few games that had the game in three diferent forms: the first 2d art, the second full motion video, and the third 3d.

I'm entering for the Strategy First game from the promo.
Thanks for you generosity.

Guess it would be too easy to recommend Deus Ex (THE best game ever?), so I'll recommend Ultima Underworld instead. Why?

UW is one of the landmarks in Gaming History. Its graphics may be dated, its controls not what we're used to now, but there is depth, there is atmosphere, there is a story. It''s not just a game, but you really step into another world.

I guess from the Strategy First promo, Disciples II likes kind of nice.
Great contest, the game that I would like is COMBAT MISSION: BEYOND OVERLORD

Now then, to promote my game:

BLOOD

One of the (Probably THE best) Build engine FPS, a wide arsenal of cool weapons, full on hardcore Gore, many secrets, absolutely amazing atmosphere and plenty of kickass one-liners

You can see the old and quite rare trailer for it here:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a3YeeBDxMl8

This one really deserves your attention, I discovered blood shortly after I joined GOG.com, it then became my favourite FPS ever and there are many good reasons for that, I highly reccomend this game to you, especially FPS and horror fans

The music you heard in the trailer above is performed by Type O Negative and it suits the game perfectly

Attachments:
Planescape: Torment

Nothing more needs to be said.

(And I already have all the GOGs I want, so no entry anyway ;-P)
i strongly recommend Duke Nukem 3d. It is really refreshing to play it nowadays, especially with Eduke. The perfect FPS if you're tired from the over-bombastic antics of CoDfish or Battlefield and just want to duke it out!

Baldur's Gate 2+expansion is my all time favorite RPG.(also my favorite genre)
It's a game that is great in all main aspect of an rpg game even through not the necessarily the best in each aspect.
In terms of:
Story torment may be greater but baldur's gate story still very engaging and interesting in this own right.

Character/allies an extremely important part of rpg imo and BG2's character leaves an impression. Heck all I still remember nearly every main character/party member and there personalities after many years. party member interaction was superb.

Features/Gameplay: BG2 had more of everything BG1 had, the diversity of races spells, items, mobs, named npc, locations were massive. Just summoning spell alone was really impressive I still remember first summoning bone skeleton with Viconia was like wow.
For game play 6 man party gave great tactical depth and customization and using real time with pause option (IMO an really great system shown in other games such as Total war series) made it possible to play fairly fluid while managing the party without having to practice executions. Vast array of spell including diverse utility spell contributed greatly to combat. Finding parts of legendary weapon and assembling them together was cool too.

graphics: looked much better than most 3d games at the time with artistic hand drawn pictures, also aged quite well.

So all in all BG2 simply had all around greatness(gameplay/story/character) which makes it overall the best rpg.

For promo I'm most interested in Combat Mission: Beyond Overlord. Thank you for this contest.
I would recommend Gothic.
A really great game, with good storyline which can be played in different variations. There is also a lot of humor and the different NPCs you meet are sometimes just awesome and they will become real friend you are happy to say later in storyline again.. The open world is another bonus, the only barriers you have are mobs which might kill you but if you can avoid them, you can go everywhere. Another huge bonus is the inventory, because it's limitless, so take everything with you if you want ;-)
Whenever I play this game I get the feeling that the developers put really love in this game. Just awesome :)
Deus Ex: Game of the Year Edition.

The storyline is pretty linear, yes, but it was a pioneer in giving you freedom to approach your objectives the way you want to.

Want to go in guns-blazing with an assault rifle? You can do that. Want to creep around the perimeter and pick people off with a sniper rifle or a scoped pistol? You can do that. Want to leave everyone alive and just sneak by them? You can do that too.

In addition, Deus Ex still has a very active community. There are a number of mission mods and total conversions you can add to the base game at no charge. I compiled a bunch of mods and upgrades in a thread on the DX board; take a look if you like.
I'm so glad you're doing this, because I just found Age of Wonders 1. Seriously, I can't believe it took me this long to a) buy it and b) actually play it. The game is easily the best turn based strategy game I've played, and that's one of my favourite genres. The battles can be easily automated if you don't like micromanaging, but you can also engage in giant turn based strategy fights that put the battles in HoMM to shame. There's also just enough of a Civ influence in terms of researching, building improvements, and diplomacy to keep you exploring and playing well into the morning (like I did until 5 am last night).

Some people don't like the fact that you can't build your own cities, but I love it. It makes every city a strategic decision, and keeps your forces limited making for a better challenge. Even better is the race diplomacy between your heroes and the races of the land. Sometimes you can buy your way into ownership of a friendly city, or other times you have to fight your way in. Then do you keep the city as an enemy race to get access to different units, or switch it to a friendly race to make it harder for the enemy to take it back.

Better yet it runs perfectly on modern systems with full resolution and no scaling issues, something that even the sequels can't do (seriously, they look awful compared to the first one).

I love Civ, but this game is like Civ and so much more. Absolutely excellent title and I would recommend it to anyone.

EDIT: Darkstar One is pretty decent, more of a dogfighting game than a open world space sim. I have it, and what little I played was enjoyable. It's not Freespace, but it's not a waste of time either.

Out of all the games I have on GoG, the one I think I would recommend the most is Fallout. Fallout is a absolutely amazing game for anyone who enjoys the RPG genre. While this game might not be the best I would say the experience alone makes it worth the play and gives experience for those who are not familiar with the genre. For me I made a GoG account just to buy this game and play it. As soon as this game starts your thrown out into the wasteland on a quest for a water chip with only a vague idea of where to go and what to do, figuring everything out adds to this experience. On the way the character meets people, groups, and monsters that can make a person really think about what to do. In the end this game is worth a ton, but for the price here on GoG it is a absolute steal, and it comes with the amazing soundtrack. I give it 5 outta 5 stars, which is pretty rare in my book.

While I already have LPA 1 and 2, I am entering this for the Strategy First game only, if I win please feel free to give LPA away still, or I might give it way.

I'm not sure, the one star review being the top makes me a little scared of it. I think if I was to go for one it might be one of the Disciples games.
