The Dark Eye gazes upon you!

Blackguards Special Edition, an engaging RPG in the world of the Dark Eye with deep tactical combat mechanics, is available 10% off on GOG.com. That's $40.49 for the first week!

The Dark Eye (or rather, Das Schwarze Auge) is to the German role-playing gamers what Dungeons and Dragons is to their US counterparts. For exactly 30 years now, the brave adventures have roamed the land known as Aventuria. It witnessed epic campaigns, secretive plots, and strange magical happenings--everything that makes a place real in player's imagination. Now, Daedalic Entertainment, the german game-dev powerhouse that ventured into the world of The Dark Eye in their adventure games, [url=http://www.gog.com/game/the_dark_eye_chains_of_satinav]Chains of Satinav and Memoria, gives you a whole new and original story to experience. And this time--it's an RPG.

Blackguards Special Edition, a new turn-based strategy RPG, places the fate of the land in the hands of a pack of misfits, convicts, and outcasts. In its grim, yet engrossing gameworld, you will discover over 180 unique hex-based battlegrounds within a dark and mature story of crime, drugs, and murder. Play as a warrior, mage or hunter and customize your character's skills as you see fit. The challenging campaign delivers a story of doubt, treason and loss. You decide the course of the story at key turning points and determine its outcome. The game comes with a full soundtrack in WAV format (no lossy MP3 compression here, nope!), and video interviews with its creators.

Set out on an adventure unlike any other, and get to know the party of unlikely heroes of Blackguards Special Edition, for only $40.49 on GOG.com. The 10% off release discount offer lasts until Wednesday, January 29, at 3:59PM GMT.

Notice:
We'd like to invite you to an AMA event GOG.com and Daedalic Entertainment is currently holding on . Feel free to come, ask the creators of Blackguards some questions and pick up a complimentary copy of [url=http://www.gog.com/game/the_dark_eye_chains_of_satinav]Chains of Satinav.
Really interested in this game but it is kind of a huge chunk off my budget so I have to be sure of my purchase. Not sure if I would either get this or the banner saga. I am curious, what is that complimentary copy of chains of satinav? and how could I avail it if I will get this game?
Looks pretty sexy. I haven't been playing games lately though so I'll wait for now.
Thank you GOG and Daedalic Entertainment for the complimentary copy of Chains of Satinav!
Just recently saw this on Steam and thought this game looked great, glad to see it here on GoG and definitely going on my wishlist (at least until I can scrape together enough cash to grab it)!

BananaJane: This site's getting so cluttered with bad games

lowyhong: In what way is Blackguards bad?
For 40$, this better be the greatest game ever made
Very nice Daedalic Entertainment! Not only you start selling the DRM-free version and the Steam version at the same time but you also give away a game!

As opposed to Stoic who still haven't manage to provide a DRM-free copy (as far as I know).

JudasIscariot: Because we left the OST as we got it from Daedalic so you can convert it to any format you wish :)

That and WAV is lossless so, to me at least, converting from one lossless format to another is rather redundant, no? Feel free to correct me if I am wrong :)
Others already stated the advantages of FLAC vs WAV (metadata tagging, album cover art, fast seeking, conversion to other lossy or lossless formats, smaller size); I'm just going to point out its best quality not mentioned yet:
FLAC (Free Lossless Audio Codec) is an open format with royalty-free licensing and a reference implementation which is free software.

singbird: Well, if these are the biggest negatives, the game actually sounds pretty good. The treasure chest thing sounds silly, but the gripe on battles basically just boils down to not liking this specific type of game.
That's right. My post just says "I don't like this type of game!" And it's a completely arbitrary and capricious opinion -- EVERY GAME'S A PRECIOUS SNOWFLAKE! I mean, it's not like most of my post was spent explaining (*) in a rational fashion why this type of game is deficient relative to others for gamers who prefer to immerse themselves in a game-world, who prefer having meaningful choices/actions, and who dislike pointless repetition. /sarc

Your comment is basically you pointing out that, while I'm the type of gamer described in the previous paragraph (and consequently do not enjoy this type of game), apparently you are not (so you may enjoy it). My previous post (last sentence) already acknowledged that gamers like you exist, and that such gamers may enjoy Blackguards, so you're not exactly adding a lot to the conversation.

(*): The only thing my post didn't explain is my dislike of (so-called) "adventure games", but I've already gone into that here.
Hmm, like the visuals, but I won't pay $40,- for it. I might pick it up if it goes on sale from -75% and up.

Yep, Stoic are a HUGE disappointment.

I was one of the initial Kickstarter supporters, and one of the reasons why I did support it was because they promised a DRM-free copy. The game was finished more than a YEAR after their initial deadline and, now that it is, there's still no DRM-free copy, yet they seemingly had no problem getting it accepted and up on Steam.

I certainly won't be buying anything more from Stoic.
Life is tough nowadays so $40 is too much for a game. I'm sure it's worth $40 but a lot of people nowadays, can't justify spending $40 for a game. :( But if you are one of the few fortunate people that can spend money like there is no tomorrow, then you should go for it. The game looks really good.

My spending like there is no tomorrow ended after Christmas (always bad) and Australians had been spoilt by an exchange rate that had our dollar higher then the US, now it just keeps dropping down and we are noticing it. We had a good run, just not good / long enough for when this game came out.

A good one.

Anyway, you missed the point, which was you're basically complaining that Charlie's Angels contains girl power. You're not telling us why Charlie's Angels sucks or rocks compared to other girl power movies; thus your message is essentially meaningless to anyone who's trying to find out what kind of a game this really is. That it's a tactical RPG is already stated in the first sentence of the release announcement, and your message doesn't really expand upon this in any way.

Hope it's clear now. Cheers.
a silly question:

can I play (and finish) this game only with female characters? :D
