A whole new campaign!

Shadowrun: Dragonfall, a fully-fledged expansion pack for the recent old-school RPG gem set in the legendary setting where cyberpunk meets fantasy, bringing in a whole new 12 hour-long campaign and many improvements to the gameplay, is available on GOG.com for only $14.99. The basic game, Shadowrun Returns, is available for $14.99 as well. That's 25% off for the base game for the next two weeks.

In 2012, magic returned to our world, awakening powerful creatures of myth and legend. Among them was the Great Dragon Feuerschwinge, who emerged without warning from the mountains of Germany unleashing fire, death, and untold destruction across the countryside. It took German forces nearly four months to finally shoot her down - and when they finally did, the event became known as the Dragonfall. It’s 42 years later, and a new threat is rising, one that could mean untold chaos and devastation. One that soon has you and your team caught on the wrong side of a deadly conspiracy. The only clue: whispers of the Dragonfall. Rumors that the Great Dragon Feuerschwinge may still be alive, waiting for the right moment to return…

Shadowrun: Dragonfall, transports runners to the Free City of Berlin, a thrilling Shadowrun setting full of gorgeous new hi-res environments, a diverse new cast of characters, and a new soundtrack by Sam Powell, the composer of the original Sega Genesis Shadowrun game. You'll lead a small team of shadowrunners, each with their own outlook and backstory. The members of your team are designed to play unique roles during missions, and each has a distinct set of skills, abilities, strengths, and weaknesses. Now, you can save your progress at any time during the game. The new save-game functionality is available in new downloads of Shadowrun Returns and through a patch for all existing copies.

If you miss the times when expansions added enough content to the game to more than make up for their price, you need to grab Shadowrun: Dragonfall, for only $14.99 on GOG.com. Don't have the base game yet? No problem! Shadowrun Returns is discounted by 25%, making it available for only $14.99 as well, until Thursday, March 13, at 5:59PM GMT.

tapeworm00: Quick question - I have this on Steam (I know, I know) but I'd rather buy this dlc/expansion/whatever here on GOG. If I do so, will it work with my base Steam game? Or is there a way to make it work?

Thanks in advance :)
Our version of the DLC will work with our version of the base game :)

CharlesGrey: I'm kind of glad this isn't introduced at a discount, since it means there's no hurry to buy it. I still have a few mods for the original game I want to try ( plus any number of other games ). Definitely going to pick this one up, though. Shadowrun Returns had some flaws, but overall I still enjoyed it, and look forward to some more official Shadowrun adventures.

Anyone just getting into Shadowrun Returns: Make sure to check out some of the mods/ fan-made campaigns, once you've played through the official game. Quality varies, but there's some really good ones; and hey, they're free downloads.

So, does anyone know how long the expansion is, compared to the original campaign? About the same size? And are there any major changes, aside from the improved saving system? New classes or skills? Or perhaps even less linear gameplay?
According to the latest Kickstarter update, there have been reports of the expansion being around 18 hours long. :)

CharlesGrey: ... Oh, one more question, how will installation for the expansion work? If I already have the main game installed, do I just drop this into the main folder, similar to user created content, or what?
If you already have the GOG version of Shadowrun Returns the first thing you should do is re-download the installer for the base game as it's been updated to version 1.2 and the DLC requires Shadowrun to be at version 1.2 in order to install and run.

Once that's done, just download the DLC installer and run it like normal :)

mistermumbles: I was a KS backer. Every backer got the expansion for free. Had to request my GOG key for the base game by contacting them directly, but I got my Dragonfall key automagically. :)

JinseiNGC224: Would you know if they plan any other expansions, based on what they said during the kickstarter?

Such a rich game world deserves a lot of content.

JinseiNGC224: Thanks Judas for being so informative, and for keeping that smug smile on at all times! You must really love your job!

Your a real trooper!

Now if only I could give YOU games :)
Oh I got more games than I know what to do with :D

Thanks for the kind words and may you enjoy your game :)

(and yes, I do love my job...especially when my personal projects come to a positive fruition, generally speaking)

anothername: Have they managed to add a proper save/load game system or has the idea been thrown under the bus?
The base game now has the save anywhere feature implemented as does the DLC :)

ShadowWulfe: So just to clarify, redownload the updated installer, "repair" or overwrite the install (save games probably stay there I'm guessing), and it's ready for the new module?

Also, more RPGs/tacticals on GOG pls? (KOTC, etc)
Just run the new installer as usual, although I'd recommend uninstalling the old version and making a back up of your previous saves :)

ShadowWulfe: Thanks! This is the first game that it looks like I have to download the full installer again. I probably would have been lazy and forgotten to backup my saves.
Sorry for having you re-download the entire installer again but when you go from 1.1.2 to 1.2 AND add new features, it's best to just start fresh, in my not quite educated on the technical side of things and not using hyphens to separate these words because I am too lazy for this opinion :D

ShadowWulfe: No problem, better safe than sorry. Does Harebrained plan on adding periodic modules like Dragonfall? Because that would be awesome.
I'd recommend asking them :)

RS1978: Attention German players:

Shadowrun DLC is NOT translated in German, the information stated on GOG's shop site is wrong. Currently only the main game is available with an uncomplete German translation.
Sorry about that and I've removed German from the list of languages for the DLC. Again, sorry about unintentionally misleading anyone here :(

RS1978: It's not a big deal, I'm sure German language support will be given later. In this case, English version seems to be better anyway. The main thing is that we can get it DRM-free at the same time like Steam, that's an important step for the DRM-free revolution! ;)
Well, here's the thing:

There's German for the various buttons and such before you start the campaign but the DLC campaign's text and conversations that I just saw are in English so I am not sure I can leave German on the page at this time :/

BreOl72: Hm, I seem to have a problem here.
I re-installed the base game (version 2.1.0.6), launched it, but there is no link to the DLC ingame, nor (and here comes the problem) is there a download link in my library...?

I made a screenshot, so you see my problem.
As RS1978 said, change your language to English and you'll see the DLC link. I removed all languages other than English from the drop down menu for the DLC since the DLC is mostly in English with localized menu screens :)
