In essence you're saying that all the people who like RPGs do so because they're elitist jerks.

Elitism requires the derision of the hobbies that they can't justify that way. And "jerks" requires the elitists to be obnoxious about the distinction to others of a different opinion.
I don't believe I remarked on those. Such individuals exist, but I would never claim that all people who like RPGs are elitists. Or further that they're all jerks.
My definition of elitism and jerks is also a bit broader than yours, I'd include in there people who enjoy something because it makes them feel superior to others.
That's what you seemed to be saying about people who love RPGs in your post, which I'd actually somewhat agree with when it comes to a vocal minority of the RPG fans, like those on the RPG Codex or other "hardcore" communities.
They give the rest of us a bad name, imo, since they're almost the poster boys for "unpleasable fanbase" and elitism.

I bought Halo when it was first released for PC, so hyped to play it (since it had been a huge xbox phenomenon already) and of course because it was by Bungie... Several hours later was sitting there disgruntled thinking "how in the WORLD did the same people who made the Marathons make THIS?". It just seemed so opposite of everything that made Marathon incredible (I'm sure some will disagree).
