pingu53: Games works fine for me and its miles better than GTAIV, god that game was horrible compared to San Andreas

Also, on an unrelated side note, it is Squeenix weekend on Steam, so expect Just Cause to be on sale in one of the next days. Highly recommend to pick up the both games, DLC for JC2 is not necessary at all = useless.

PC port is one of the worst of all time, up there with Splinter Cell: Double Agent and Resident Evil 4.

Game itself is okay but the new one does everything it does better.

iainmet: Its not bad, picked it up for about £3 in a Steam daily deal few weeks back. Its one of those games where you can just pick it up and play around doing whatever you want or progress the story a bit by doing missions. Play as much or as little as you please. It is a bit of a GTA clone in all fairness but at least it is fun and runs fine.
Have you not had any probelems with yours? No speed problems?

What's the system you're running it on?

No its been absolutely fine performance wise. The issues arose at the time of release but newer hardware and you shouldnt have any issues.

System Spec :

AMD Phenom II X4 965Black Edition (Running at stock speed 3.4Ghz)
ASUS M4A79XTD EVO Motherboard
8 Gb Corsair XSM3 DDR3 1600
MSI GeForce GTX 570 Twin Frozr 3 OC Edition
Antec Truepower 750 Watt Modular Power Supply
2 TB SATA 2 Storage (500Gb & 1.5TB drives)
DVDRW
ASUS 1920x1080 LCD Screen
Zalman HD501 HTPC Case

Running the game in 1920x1080 and everything ingame set as high as it will go. Runs silky smooth.
Well I wasn't going to get it because of the problems, but if you're running it fine, I might just get it, it's only £3.50.

I'll decide later, thx. :)
It looks like it would be a really fun game if it wasn't for the horrible driving, I've never seen cars handle so bad. I applied the fan patch to fix it but i haven't noticed any significant improvement.
On PC it's absolute shit. This is coming from someone who considers SR3 easily to be GotY.
I consider SR 2 to be superior to SR 3. More fun, better writing, more stuff to do, more customisability... Install the Gentlemen of the Row mod and be happy.
I just went for it, even if I don't like it after all it's not even the price of a lunch.

Thanks for your opinions, people.
Question. Those who call it shite or crap, exactly why??????
Ive had the disk version for quite a while and really enjoyed playing it:).

1 FPS whenever driving in a car. The reason for that being that the game is piss poorly optimized. It will only run correctly on CPUs that have the same (or as near to as possible) speed as the 360. Which is around 3.2 GHz. And if you can't get your CPU to around that (either because it's slower or faster) then you're buggered. Powertools works for some CPUs to address that, but not all.

Similarly, issues can be caused if R/W rate of your disk drives doesn't match what the game is expecting.

So if you can play the game without issue, consider yourself lucky. You're in that narrow band of hardware for which optimization was not required. Everyone else is going to have trouble getting the game into a playable state.

I've owned it since it was first released and so far, have never got it running without frame rate issues on several different PCs. The best I ever got it was using GamersGate's original non-Steam version. But the Steam version has never been playable for me.

With the Gentleman of the row patch SR2 is a load of fun very rough in places but i actually prefer it to SR3 as its a bigger city to explore, music stations are better and the gangs are all individual with their own story.
