I thought I'd split off this thread from the main one I made because their Kickstarter campaign is about to end, and to give a quick plug on GOG before it ends.

Satellite Reign is a spiritual successor to Syndicate Wars (available here on GOG) being made by Mike Diskett, who was the lead programmer and producer of Syndicate Wars back in 1996.

Here is the Kickstarter page:
http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/5livesstudios/satellite-reign

There's also some videos they've done imagining how the game will look in Unity engine:

BACK IT NOW!!! OR ELSE
So, not knowing how Kickstarter *really* works myself...

Are the stretch goals limited to what they receive before the end of the Kickstarter?
Is it likely that they'll withdraw the option to back it while it's in development?

They will probably finalize what they intend to put in the game at some stage.

They are keeping the PayPal option open to pledge even after the Kickstarter ends though.
It's pity that my CC doesn't work with Kickstarter.
This actually looks like a rare Kickstarter I could actually get behind. My one worry is that it does sound very ambitious, I wonder if they can make a game that can really live up to their concept?

I'm leaning towards throwing them some money anyway, even if I think it is a bit of a gamble.

They have a Paypal option since few days.
Glad the environmental destruction was reached on the kickstarter.

Good to know. Thanks for info! Now I'm obligated to give them my money ;).

Not that I KSed it myself, but I'm pretty confident the devs can deliver given their history. The stumbling block for me is how liberally "DRM free" is used on KS, when several projects have shown already that the results aren't always what I expect; eg, no updates or mods unless activated on Steam.
not sure why ur doing this as its already funded and other thread is updated etc ;)
