Just saw Pilgrim again...
I noticed, this time, that the Sex Bob Ombs improve dramatically from opening to ending. When you take the film as an allegorical narrative that charts the transformation of Scott from disaffected slacker to self-actualized adult, it only makes sense the band would transform as well.
And I really, really like Knives character more than I first did.
Beck's music in the film is pure Beck. Listen to Beck! I suspected it was him after only a few songs, and by the time Scott was playing 'Ramona', I was sure. It helped that I'd seen Nigel Godrich's name in the opening credits (he's worked with Beck several times).
Most of his stuff isn't like this, though. He's pretty much parodying his oldest stuff here (especially the lyrics), but 'Gamma Ray' and 'Profanity Prayers' from his newest album are this sort of thing. Same with 'Diamond Bollocks' from a while back. In terms of his older stuff (which I don't listen to much and can't remember names well), check out 'Minus' and... okay, I really don't listen to his old stuff much
Anyway yes
