Detlik: Slightly hijacking the thread but...Serious Sam 3 BFE or Saints Row 3?
avatar
Delixe: Impossible to compare them. If I had to choose one or the other (which I in fact did) then it would be Saints Row The Third. It's a truly brilliant game but it's very short for a GTA-a-like. You will probably have most of it complete in about 30 hours.
Huh...I was expecting MUCH more then 30 hours :( and I know its hard to compare but I am interested in both titles but thanks to Skyrim I will be able to get only one so I have to choose, and maybe my list of choices will expand even more soon :D

30 hours only? Same reason why i felt Witcher 2 slightly underwhelming.

I will say this. It's 30 hours of some of the most fun you will ever have in a video game. Basically my only real complaint other than wonky AI is there just isn't enough of it. Certainly not when you compare it to GTA IV's gargatuan size. You can finish Saints Row 3 twice in the time it takes you to finish GTA IV once, however the fact I am playing it again right after finishing it should tell you just how much I enjoyed it.

Ah, I see...well from new releases and releases around christmas I am thinking just between SS3 and Saints Row, just to be sure could you tell me biggest releases around christmas time so I can be sure I am not missing something?

Anything major is out I think. The only big release left is The Old Republic. All the biggies hit this month which is why i'm now poor. Skyrim, Saints Row, Batman: Arkham City, LA Noire, Battlefield 3, Sonic Generations, Modern Warfare 3, Serious Sam 3. I'm sure someone will correct me with game I have missed but those are the biggies.

Ah, well from biggies I have Skyrim, Battlefield 3 and hopefully I will get The Old Republic will be hidden under christmas tree :D . So it seems that the list stays the same (SS3 and Saints Row3), I heard LA Noire is buggy/bad port so I will wait for bigger sale that was yesterday (25 euro), I dont want MW3 since I am not fan of CoD series, to be honest never played any Sonic game (except the DX or what it was called), but I might "repair" it by getting generations and I will get Batman sometime in the far future.

SimonG: This is a game that demands a Demo. After SS 2, I'm not buying it blind.
Was it the cartoonish feel of SS 2 that people didn't like or what? Serious Sam 2 gets so much hate, but I still want to see it on here.

Also forgot to ask, after finishing Saints Row 3 do you have urge to replay it or just go into town and do silly/goofy stuff or play the game "just for kicks"?

See that's the major problem with the game. Once you finish it you get a complete save and are told you can play the ending again to chose another path or you can explore the city. The trouble is you already have explored it and nothing new spawns in it. Really the only option is to start a new character and try out the alternate choices you can make.

So not even civilians spawn to go on good old silly GTA-like rampage? Boy that is kinda...disappointing :( Is the game made so after you finish it you dont want to play it or you are kinda motivated to explore other options?

Oh yeah the whole city is still there but nothing new challenge-wise spawns. For many people GTA IV only starts when you finish the MQ because then you have all the pidgeons to hunt and the sidequests to do which takes days. Nothing much to do in Steelport once you have finished the game other than fucking around. You also control the whole city so even if you attack some gangers whole flocks of your gang will turn up quickly making it a massacre.

No, that was actually the part I liked. The gameplay just wasn't the same anymore, it felt to much like your average shooter, imo. And it was also, at least at the time I last played it, extremly buggy. I had a "gamestopper" bug (I coulnd't progress in the game, because not all kills got registered) twice. After the second time I was done and never came back ....

Oh, so if I sometimes just go berserk during playing GTA to see how long I can survive and how many people I can kill (yes I know I am maniac) the replayability will be extended?

Sure and you get some awesome bloodbaths because unlike GTA your gang the Saints start slowly taking over. Eventually there are your soldiers everywhere so when gangs and police shoot at you help is never far away.
