This is my favourite topic

As a few of you may know I like my classic cars. my latest one was bought as a non-working to be scrapped POS.
It has some screwy engine issues and does not match up any wiring loom in any of the owners manuals
Today I stripped out around 70 meters of cable 50 of which didn't seem to go anywhere and the other 20 I replaced.
Low and behold I start the ignition expecting nothing as had been the case previously but this time it splutters into life and a plume of thick black smoke and gunk comes out the exhaust forcing me to vacate the garage.

I guess this is what being a parent is like I have a new-born baby to look after. (clean, strip-down and restore)

Anyway here's the newest addition to my family

Awww thanks.

She's only a 1.6 and needs converted to unleaded petrol but there are a number of issues to fix first.

Thanks. But she really is a grumpy old bitch. as you can see from the second pic ive had to replace a fair few bits to even get it to run. and even when it did it made such a mess, but then again it hasnt run for 20 years

You dont have to collect or repair them to be an enthusiast.


Ive got my heart set on an MG Dragonfly, dunno much about them but saw a picture and fell in love.

Disregarding the fact you had to clean up the mess, that sounded like one of the small moments that makes life worth living, or being a car enthusiast worth being! The exciting sputter, like a roughed up, beautiful woman you had saved from drowning coughing up water. The sound of life!

Speaking of things like this, I have a really strong desire to buy roughed up pinball machines and restore them, their artwork, etc. I feel like that could be fun on a less expensive scale, and also highly profitable if I could bring myself to get rid of them later.

I havent got a chance to do that with mine, That if memory serves is a £900 wahlnut dash on its own.

But by christ that is a lovely rebuild.

Yeah, the car in the video isn't the one in the song. I'm guessing the uploader just wanted a song about an MGB GT. :P
