I've only recently started to see how many game bundles are out there; I had no idea. There are a bunch of games on GamersGate right now for about $2.50 each for their Halloween special. I'm wondering if I should buy a bunch when I can't really afford them, or should I hope some bundle, sometime, somewhere will prolly have them. None of the games I HAVE to have, they just seem decent enough that 2.50 seems a really good price and it would be a shame if I missed them. So, your thoughts? Here are some of the games that seem interesting:

Darkness Within 1, 2
Enola
Metal Dead
Cursed Mountain
Barrow Hill
Baron Wittard
Alien Shooter (only cause it's 1.25, not really into shooters)
Alone in the Dark
Last Half of Darkness
Fort Zombie
DeadEnd Cerebral Vortex

If you really want to play some of the games, buy them.

If you don't need to have them or have a backlog, I'd say it's not necessary.

But it's your call! Do what feels right to make yourself happy.

Enola is still in alpha and seems too new to be part of a bundle soon - at least I'd expect the developer to try selling the game on its own for a while before considering to sell it in a bundle.

Cursed Mountain, Barrow Hill, Baron Wittard, Alone in the Dark, and Last Half of Darkness have to my knowledge never appeared in a bundle, and their publishers don't seem to be interested in the bundle scene so far. The same probably goes for Darkness Within 1+2, though I'm not 100% sure.

Metal Dead, Alien Shooter, and DeadEnd Cerebral Vortex have already appeared in bundles and may do so again.

No idea about Fort Zombie, there are too many zombie games to keep track of and my memory about them is getting fuzzy.

No warranties that everything is 100% accurate, but the general picture should be correct.

As Psyringe noted, many of those have never been in a bundle (as far as I'm aware as well), but if you don't have the money for them, don't buy them. They'll appear on sale again in the future and you can pick them up when you have some cash. Cursed Mountain I've seen on sale twice in the last few months, as an example.

And buy if it's something you actually want, not just because they're cheap (I note you mentioned Alien Shooter is something you're not really interested in but it's so cheap). That way lies madness.

Metal Dead

Another LucasArts-Like/Point N click featuring two friends who wanted to portray themselves in comics. I had the same idea at that age but now pushing forty it's a bit embarrassing.

Alone in the Dark

Had for PS2 - It's a decent game but a very cinematic-based game so strictly linear and absolutely nothing like the old games.


Fort Zombie

Purchased this today.

My specs:
7300GT GeForce 512 MB AGP
Athlon XP SSE Single Core 2400+ (Ten years old)

I've had to turn down draw distance and run in a window because the developers didn't do a good job of optimizing.

It's very good game play-wise but is stat-driven despite being real time so even though you appear to be hitting zombies, behind the scenes dice are rolled determining how well you hit those zombies if at all.

I would also suggest a game pad that you can map to keyboard and mouse (like Logitech) as the action is pretty fast and the keyboard/mouse combo is hand-cramping.

Those other games i have not played and look dreadful.

Darkness Within 1 is a good game, imho. If you wanted to buy only one of them, buy this.

I don't know any of those games, except Alone in the Dark (2008) and its a good game, only if you buy it cheap, because it can be really annoying sometimes by its desing and gameplay (I played it on Xbox 360). The game is divided in chapters, and overall can be quite long (the first time), but also repetitive. The story is interesting, except for the ending... and the characters say too much "bad words", in case you don't like that in your games.

Since waiting for a bundle with any of those games is uncertain, I say buy the games you're interested if you can. They're for sale right now, take advantage of the offers while you can ;)

I really enjoyed the Darkness Within games, Baron Wittard and Barrow Hill, so if You like Scratches, Dark Fall etc. I highly recommended them.

Wouldn't count on a bundle as others pointed out, but watch out for Darkness Within 2 on Gamersgate - read grviper's review on there, it's apparently an unpatched/able DRM'd version. Get them on Desura instead.

Metal Dead has been in 3 or 4 bundles by now.

It's a very good game though, and easily worth more than $2.50 by itself if you are a fan of classic adventure games.

Ah, didn't realize that. I thought it was part of the name, or indicated it was a piece of a series. Why would anybody sell alphas??

Mainly to fund further development.

Many people like to support gaming ideas that they like, so they buy the game at a very early (incomplete) stage, to help the developer to actually finish it. Alphas are also usually sold at a discount, to compensate for their incompleteness (and for the risk that they might not be completed, or might not be able to fulfill their potential). Finally, some people like to give feedback to games in development, to shape the game.

I read on the internet, Fort Zombie is a terrible game.
