I made that ever fatal mistake of forgetting that the rest of the world doesn't know the difference between New Zealand and Australia.

It's remarkably stupid that NZ, a country with an R18 games rating, sometimes gets the same censored versions as Australia. I understand why it happens in terms of physical distribution, although it's somewhat more irritating over digital distribution (although I assume it's some obligation to mirror the retail publisher's choices).

But either way, I've only really got myself to blame on this one. /facepalm

This is what happens when you're not a regular member. I imagine you forgot to notice GOG's new don't ask don't tell policy regarding what region you reside in?

Well if you bought it on GOG a good way to ease the pain would be to buy Freepace 1 + 2 which the credit you'll receive back from GOG.

Could you perhaps send an email to GOG support, telling them that you made a terrible error?

You could explain that you're actually a citizen of (say) the UK and you accidentally put "Australia" as your country because it's all the same Queen right? Then they could perhaps switch your version from the AU one to the UK one.

Worth a shot.

You can always try mailing GOG about the mistake...
Remember, our countries were all part of Pangaea at one point, and that technically makes us natives of everywhere, so feel free to be a free roaming citizen of all places.

Actually, this is where it gets even dumber.

I knew about the region policy. I just went ahead and purchased anyway, because I assumed that since New Zealand is an entirely different nation from Australia (and we have an R18 rating for games) we wouldn't get a censored version.

Assumptions, eh? I didn't even suspect I might get the AU version from the price, since I preordered quite early on and it showed up as 44.99 USD when I purchased >_<

I vaguely recall those days. When we were enslaved by the dinosaurs to build their spaceships.

I might be off. It's been a couple of years.

Contact GOG if you haven't already.

There was actually a thread on this forum recently about how NZ is not AU concerning Witcher 2. Strange I can't seem to find it now. Curse this poor search button.

Kabuto: Contact GOG if you haven't already.
I'm about to, especially in light of the fact that I've recently moved to the UK.
I'm from NZ too and I want to buy the Witcher 2. It would seem that if my location is NZ they want to charge me $70USD but if I change my location to USA they only want to charge me $44.99USD.

I'm so confused right about now.
I suggest GOG adds a new country to the forum: Kiwiland. There, now you don't live in New Zealand.

Embrace your countries epic price gouging.

GOG would give you back the difference GOG credit. Still censored though.
Oh look at that, I just moved to the States...

Hail and welcome! Try not to notice our absurdities. We censored TW1 but were eventually talked into allowing an optional de-censoring. ;)
