Uhmmm..... the OP and a few million other people. There's a chance that somebody here would have wanted to play with him
I don't play Halo either but still I don't get the point of responses like the one above.

So, someone who has it... is the campaign better? By which I mean longer than 6 hours and with more interesting locations? No endless repeating corridors?

Yes. It is better. It is the best, actually. I have bought and played through every entry of the series (Halo 2 was the black sheep of the family), and they have addressed almost every problem people had with the game. With the multiplayer, you can even play every map from every game in the series, through their inventive "Forge World" map.
If you've ever enjoyed a Halo game, you'll most certainly enjoy this one.
EDIT: Also, I am sick and tired of all these Halo haters. I'm not the biggest Final Fantasy fan, but that doesn't mean I run up to you and scream "Your game is a piece of shit and a blight on the face of gaming!" and run off giggling. Halo revolutionized both PC and console gaming, and is an important milestone in the history of first-person shooting. It has pumped out five incredible games, while our PC messiah, Half-Life, has only managed two. The science fiction story is surprisingly deep, and the acting is superb. It's one of the first games that Keith David appeared in (one of the best voice actors ever). It popularized the regenerating health system, now a cornerstone in today's market. It created beautiful, gigantic maps, the likes of which we had never seen before. Most importantly, it proved that there can be console multiplayer that is as good/better than what you can get on PC.
Many PC gamers like to rag on it because it was a changing of the times, an end of an era where PC always dominated console play. I see it for what it is; an important evolutionary step in the microcosm of gaming that's also fun to play. The series remains relevant to this day, and Halo Reach is a testament to the staying power it has. Activision are blessed to have such a talented developer as Bungie making games for them for the next ten years. May their next game revolutionize the industry like their former series has!

I think a lot of PC gamers identify Halo as the game that took our FPS dominance away.
For me I played the original and really liked it on PC... felt like it was a great game, despite how bad it looked by the time it came out. It had a good story, open levels, good enemy AI and cool new mechanics.
Halo 2 was ass though.
And I do have to say the rabid Halo copying we have endured since, be it recharging health, the two weapon limit or whatever else, has been annoying.

+1 for that post man, that's what I've always thought and tried to explain to the hardcore PC gamers and other Halo haters.
And yes, about Reach. It's a great game. I already wrote a little more about it in the "Games you finished in 2010" -thread so I'm not going to go into details here. The campaign took me about 8 hours to complete so it's not very long. I played on normal, though, so I could advance pretty quickly.

barjed: Still, I am having tons of fun with it and was wondering if anyone is up for some multiplayer. Deathmach or Firefight or we could even try the campaign after I am finished with it on the Legendary in co-op or something.

What's your live ID? I'm up for some multiplayer action and since we live on the same time zone (we do, right?) it should be easy to match our schedules. For co-op campaign I should get myself a mic, though, would be pretty dull otherwise. Or, actually, I do have the headset which game with my Xbox, but I never really liked how the sound comes only to my other ear. So Iet's put it this way: I should find a better headset first.

Thank you, I'm getting sick of deliving the sanity rant. It often feels like the hardcore haters of halo are like those guys who loved a small band before they were famous, let that love define their identity as someone special and then when the band became successful, they realised they were one of a crowd and blame the BAND for it

Well I'd say 2 incredible games, 3 good games and also a console RTS, the less said about which the better. With a mouse I might have enjoyed halo wars but with a controller... ick
As for multiplayer, I might be up for a bit of firefight if we can work out a time
