Zchinque: Now I have to do it the long way:
1-2-3-4-5
1-5-3-4-2
1-5-2-4-3
1-5-2-3-4
It's a pain.
Slight less of a pain (depending on your opinion, since it's more repetitive moving the same box one slot to the left each time) is:
1-2-3-4-5
1-2-3-5-4
1-2-5-3-4
1-5-2-3-4
Also, if you want to move 4 and 5 to the beginning, you can do:
1-2-3-4-5
1-2-5-4-3
1-4-5-2-3
5-4-1-2-3
(4-5-1-2-3)
... this is more efficient if you want to move several newly-bought games from their automatic place last in the list to higher up, since they move as one (but still only one place at a time).
...those two are what I use for my ~200 GOGs.
Of course, being able to fit a box
between two others would be even better, as you suggest.
QC: Plus, alphabetical order isn't perfect since you have games that are different enough in title to be split up from each other if they're in the same series. For example, go to the game list. You have Myst, Myst Perfect and Riven: The Sequel To Myst. That's a full 5 letter list of games that's going to get bigger over time.
One of my earlier ideas was "alphabetical by a custom sort field", let each user decide how the games should be sorted (and use title if said field is not filled in).
That way I could decide that my Myst games and Uru should be sorted by "Myst1", "Myst1.5", "Myst2", and "Myst6" (no, Uru isn't Myst 6, but that's irrelevant as it would only be used for sorting, and then only for me, another user may use another order). Or that Alien Nations and The Nations should be sorted by "Nations1" and "Nations2", respectively.
