Wishbone: Now, if only MW2 had had actual server support, instead of the crappy random-client-is-server gimmick, that might actually have enabled them to track him down.

No real difference, unless you mean BC2-style servers where they are all at the same few farms. You would still need to request information from the server admin. Only difference is it is a user who would send the log, rather than a facility.

This part's even worse:
"May could face up to five years or a $25,000 fine on the first charge and up to five years or a $500 fine and imprisonment of up to two years on the second charge."

Yeah I know, I couldn't even follow that sentence which is why I didn't bother with it.

It's by no means impossible. But it doesn't seem to be something you can expect from console games in the same way you can with PC.
