Space Rangers 2 disappeared from the catalog a few months ago due to licensing issues, but it remained on the shelves of those who already purchased it. Understandable. But, I've just noticed it was missing from my own shelf (replaced by a glaring empty spot) and therefore no longer available to download. This is shocking, as I've already paid for the game and I don't think my access to the install file should expire.

Does anyone have any insight into what's going on?

Hopefully this is a mistake that will be corrected.

See http://www.gog.com/forum/general/missing_games_1
Apparently all games GOG lost the selling rights have disappeared from the shelves.

This is probably due to some site updates we are currently seeing. For the time being, it is best to calm down.

While this is somewhat disappointing, remember that is is currently midnight in Poland, so GOG will probably address this in the morning.
Note that you can still manually download the absent games using the GOG.com Downloader by launching a URL through your browser containing the game's listed name (the same name used on the folder made by the Downloader), e.g.:

gogdownloader://toca_race_driver_3/win_installer

will add the TOCA Race Driver 3 installer to the Downloader as long as it is attached to your GOG.com account. I don't have Space Rangers 2 to test but looking at the wiki it looks like something like the following would work:

gogdownloader://space_rangers_2_reboot/win_installer

Note that gogdownloader links will only work if the GOG.com Downloader is installed and set up correctly in your browser.

I tried it but it didn't work, said something about unable to fetch data. I've the GOG downloader
in a non-default folder so that could be a problem. Is there anything that can be changed to fix
it? It certainly was a neat trick to start the download quickly.

Hmmm, that error means that isn't its internal name. Its internal name might be something simpler, space_rangers_2 or whatever. The name has to be exactly what it is expecting (and also be present in your account) otherwise it won't add it.

space_rangers_2_reboot ?

EDIT: yeah, the same as the folder name the downloader creates.

Note that a while back GOG upgraded Space Rangers 2 from Dominators to Revoot
Odd, I still see Space Rangers 2 on my shelf, along with XIII and Obscure.
Yeah, it's back now. *shrug*
XIII and SR2 were missing. Then only SR2. Now XII is missing and SR2 is back. This all happened within 10 min. My guess it's still there, but its not always being shown to you.
Its best to download all your games and backup on DVDR or external HD. Companies can lose licensing rights or go bankrupt very quickly these days, so best to play it safe. Im almost done downloading all my games from all the sites. Steam and Amazon will be around for a long time so save those downloads for last.
And they are both gone again.

Not bad advice but this is something more along the lines of a bug in the system. I don't think anyone has anything to worry about today.
GOG's general update policy seems to be add 1 thing, break 2 others. They did it to the downloader too relatively recently.
