Lets see where should i start,
Hmm
So far it seems that theres not gonna be Battlefield 3 on steam
Mass Effect 3 on steam
Heck if things go on like this EA will be losing alot of sales
So whats your take on this
i hope that EA come to there senses and release the games on steam
So what do you guys think?
EA will not be losing a lot of sales. BF3 has lots of hype surrounding it.
Everyone and their grandma now wants their own "social", "distribution", "DRM", "we make big moneys fast" network. I've had a Steam acc since 2004, and a barely used Impulse one since 2006. Any new service will have to be pretty darn impressive and sizzling with high-quality exclusive content to convince me to join and remember the password for a second visit.

EA might for the most part produce PC versions of their games and good ones at that. But I don't think that it's their primary market by any means.

Plus, even if they lose 30% of their total PC sales, taking 100% of the profit from the sales they make through Origin should go a long way towards compensating for that. Companies like Blizzard do well enough with their own stores to not feel the need to use Steam at all and I guess EA considers itself big and bad enough to do the same.

I just don't know if EA have enough games in the pipeline to make Origin anything more than something people use once in a while. Even now they're on GOG the re-release of their back catalogue seems to have hit a wall. I suppose that buying Popcap could change that quite dramatically though.
well i am wary of orgin because of EA past DRM offences
Steam - Most games use steam DRM with some games using Steam + 3rd party DRM
Origin - All games use 3rd party DRM.

Both methods are easily cracked but at least with Steam DRM it's less intrusive to the system.

EA really has to get it's math right on this one. For one, they really could be bringing in more customers to Origin this way. If they don't, they loose out on a lot of profits Steam would be able to generate to them. It's normal for them to go away from steam, but is their service up to the test?
Well Ea did there math right, But whats the chance of them releasing it on steam afterall?

???
i see no difference to origin and steam intrusiveness to the system.
i know steam breaks apart completely if your net speed is 64 kbs (aussie user might now something about this)
I don't dislike those platform in general. What I hate is that there will be (probably) many different ones in the near future and I don't want to register for every new platform. On Steam, which came first, I own a lot of games. On Origin I don't (so far) and since it is EA only I doubt I will ever own as many games as on Steam.
By default, I dislike Origin, because EA is cheaply co-opting the name of one of my favorite game companies of all time.

I don't care if you own the rights, let the name rest in peace and come up with your own freaking one.

Steam seems ok, but I dislike their DRM scheme and I only have the budget and time for 1 game distributor, hence...
I'm not a fan of Steam but I've been using it since beta and now own quite a few games on it (50+). Together with GoG and battle.net, I already have 3 platforms and do not want to have any more. So, either Steam or no platform or gtfo.
Well if i need to buy mass effect 3 on origin or need to use origin in order to play it then i won't be paying for it.
The pricing of SW:ToR on Origin alone should be enough to warn you away, and also hint that this isn't going to be as big as they'd hoped.

Charging console price for a PC game will ward off fans, the £5 pre-order charge is something i'm not used to as a UK customer, hammering another nail in the coffin. The talks of them being able to remove all DLC associated with your account if you don't log in for a while is another disturbing case.

And then there's the distinct lack of titles I can see on the store at the moment, to really get people into the service they need to offer a huge variety of their games past and present. So far I can't tell what they offer because the site is extremely awkward to follow.
