CowboyBebop: Examine:
The front door, is it locked?
The driveway, is everybody's car there? Is Paul's car there?
The bathroom. Is there anything interesting?

Question:
Dr. Morris: "Did you wake up before the scream? If so, who woke you up?"
CC Morris: "Did you see who attacked your husband? Why do you drink so much?"
Front door: unlocked.
Driveway: Paul's car is there.
Bathroom: Beth's makeup kit has been left here. She must have taken some time to groom herself when she got up during dinner.

Dr. Morris: "I don't remember hearing the scream, actually."

CC Morris: "No, I'm just as unclear on that as he is." LIE DETECTED!

Help is on the way momentarily!

EXAMINE

Examine Billy's room, especially the window, to see if there is a way he can get out of his room through the window, drop to the ground, and maybe make a way to the front door without being seen.
Billy's room: there is a straight drop to the ground from both of the windows. If he got down, he either had a rope of some kind or he's a ninja. No rope is visible in the area.

Examine Billy's and Beth's clothes surreptitiously to see if their clothes are torn.
Neither Billy's nor Beth's clothes appear to be torn.

Request everyone present, including myself, to write down some sentences on a piece of paper, and then compare the handwriting with the two letters found.
Everyone takes turns giving handwriting samples.

Horace Kim take an extra long time producing his sample, as if to deliberately distort it.

Horace Kim's sample appears to match letter 1.

Because you were so insistent, you, Dr. Morris, were able to avoid giving a handwriting sample.

ASK

Asking my wife directly to check whether her clothes are torn or not.

CC Morris: "Uh... no, of course not, Peter. [scowls] Why would you ask me that?", she says, reprimanding you.

And, unless I miss it somewhere, Beth has not answered this public question: Was there anybody else with you when you were playing piano?
Beth: "After dinner? No, when I was playing the piano, I was alone."

As the party hunched around the dining table, analyzing each other's handwriting samples, a soft knock echoed from the front door.

The knock grew and grew until at last it was a pounding.

"The police!" Beth exclaimed, "they're finally here!"

The group ran to the front door, flung it open and saw.... nothing.

Lying on all fours, nearly frostbitten and with a bloody forehead was the long missing guest, Paul D'Souza.

"Mr. D'Souza!" shouted Billy.

"Paul, are you alright?" Dr. Morris said, concerned, "Come here..."

The group moved him into the living room, where Dr. Morris patched up his wound and wrapped a couple blankets around him to warm him up.

"W-w-why not go to - - the firep-p-place?" Paul D'Souza asked.

"About that..." the Judge interjected, "...well, can you tell us what happened to you first..? Are you alright?"

"Al-al-alright now. B-but someone here is.. is... is...a potential killer."

The group sighed.

"Who did it to you?" Beth asked. "Who was it, Paul?"

"I, I've been s-s-sitting there," he said, teeth still chattering from exposure to the cold, "in, in, in the driveway, b-b-because when I got out of the c-c-car, a woman attacked me...not a great look at her, but a, a woman wearing b-b-blue", he said, glancing around the room suspiciously at any woman who might be wearing blue."

"How do you know it was a woman?" Beth shot back.

"Sh-she made a n-n-noise, a feminine sounding n-n-noiiise... when she slammed my head into... onto the hood of my car."

A silence fell over the room.

TWIST 1 was: Paul D'Souza was at the house all along! Sorry, no one got the bonus answer for this question. :(

Participants are excluded from the bonus questions, right?

tarangwydion: Participants are excluded from the bonus questions, right?
No, but all the bonuses are closed. No one won them. Had quite a few come close, but nothin. :(

Sorry :(

(The one about who is the killer was going to stay open, but I didn't want someone to wait till they had all the evidence and then just getting it without guessing at all.)

I guessed just a couple of minutes before midnight. I thought that Paul's dead body would be found. I didn't think him being there the whole time would be the twist since I found his car, so of course he was there : (

Yep. I didn't expect someone to figure out his car was there at 11:55 (my time) the night the question closed though. Heheh. Problem with this one is: no control really over what gets asked and when.
I didn't pay attention to the bonus questions at all, thinking that participants were excluded from them. I can't even remember what the bonus questions were :-D

Sorry. I tried to make it clear that they were, but the problem was I had to use very few words (every time I submitted the edited post, GOG kept saying "Too many words!")
EXAMINE

When Beth is not around, examine Beth's makeup kit closely to see if there is anything unusual.

Not sure if D'Souza is in condition to give handwriting example, but if he is, request him to do so and then compare it with the letters again.

Almost forgot, also compare the letters with Joseph's handwriting.
I didn't really pay attention either. Right before I guessed, I was looking back through the topic and saw that the questions were open to everybody and that the first twist had to be turned in before midnight. Here are the questions that were there if you're curious:

Question 1: First to identify the killer/killers correctly wins a Gog. Prize given postgame.
Question 2: First to identify the first major plot twist wins a Gog. Deadline midnight June 10th.
Question 3: First to identify the second major plot twist (if any) wins a Gog. Deadline midnight June 12th.

Nothing unusual in the makeup kit. It is, however, quite large. Could take someone a long time to do their makeup with this if they really wanted to impress someone...

Not sure if D'Souza is in condition to give handwriting example, but if he is, request him to do so and then compare it with the letters again.
D'Souza's hand is functioning properly, and he gives you a sample. The sample does not match either of the letters.

Almost forgot, also compare the letters with Joseph's handwriting.
Samples from the desk in his bedroom revealed that his handwriting does not match either of the letters.

Every character (including D'Souza and the deceased) have given writing samples, everyone besides Dr. Morris. Letter 1 matches Horace Kim's writing. Letter 2 does not match any current samples.

ASK

Alexa and Billy: Did your father ever own a gun?

Margie: Did you or did you not actually enter the kitchen? If you do, whom did you saw there? Why, according to Wheeler you seemed startled?

tarangwydion: ASK

Alexa and Billy: Did your father ever own a gun?
Alexa: "No, certainly not."

Billy: "Dad would never own a weapon, no, he didn't."

Margie: Did you or did you not actually enter the kitchen? If you do, whom did you saw there? Why, according to Wheeler you seemed startled?
Margie takes you just out of earshot from Horace and Charlie.

Margie: "I didn't go in, no" she whispers, "I just went to grab a glass of water.. and both of them were there, I saw them kiss. I just, ummmm, never would have guessed. If you ask me, the reason they are so foggy on their story is that they don't want to raise suspicions about their relationship. I figure there was no way either of them committed the crime."

Whoa... whoa... just want to confirm one thing first... both Horace and Charlie are male right... 'cause if Margie did not lie then that would make them homosexual :-)

Horace Kim:
He might have knowledge of the deceased's current business deals.

Charlie Wheeler:
He brought that tasty pasta fagioli that everyone enjoyed before dinner.

Yep. Heh.
