I've noticed that none of the games on GOG.com have demos. I find this surprising for two reasons: one, many of the older games, such as the King's Quest series and Outcast, had playable demos released for them; and two, GOG.com doesn't have any on-site way to show what the gameplay is like other than text-only reviews by people who played the games. I believe that the extra effort required to either create (or get permission to use) gameplay clips for games or wrap/retrofit pre-existing, playable game demos for modern systems would be worth it because it would allow potential buyers to see what the game is actually like before they buy it.

The problem is that demos almost always use older versions of the code (demos don't get patched). So, worst case scenario, GoG would need to get the latest official version of the game working AND the demo working.
And, unfortunately, the demo would be given away for free. So not cost-effective.
It would be somewhat nice to have demos, but as Gundato said, every demo would pretty much double GOG's job. And I would like their time to be spent bringing new GOGs, not testing demos and stuff like that.

I agree. I also suggested in my original post that GOG could either create or get the rights to use clips that showcased the gameplay of the games they have. The only real costs involved with creating or getting the rights to use gameplay videos would be licensing. It's still not free for GOG, but it's certainly better than doubling their workload.
With minimal searches you can find trailers and gameplay footage for the majority of games on Youtube, let alone other more games-focussed sites.
And I think GoG occasionally does post stuff on Youtube. Or, at least, they used to.

Hi :)
I have a Demos thread though admittedly it's very out of date. I'll update it one day.
