I would love to have the option to 'gift' games to the GOG community on a first-come first-serve basis. Something like a "Free Games" section that displays all the games people have put up for donation. Does anyone else think this is a good idea? Maybe some developers will take note.
I think GOG.com provides the following for a suggestion like this:

I think this is a rather special and not often used way of buying here and you can easily emulate it. Just donate a game to yourself, then open a thread saying that everybody interested should send you PM, send redemption code to first PM and write in the thread that the game is redeemed.

Of course one could make it more comfortable but right now it might not yet be worth the costs in programming the feature.
With a possibility like that, there would be a lot of people parsing the page content all the time to grab any new code that is available for less than 1 second.

It is much better to use the Forum and give it to someone on your own.
You could always post in the Ninja giveaway topic. It is first come first serve after all ...
hmm - no. I envisage that it can be abused.

If you want to give to the community, then I think it is best to use the forum, where there are at least a little bit of control.

There are already several threads (as the others have pointed out) where this is happening, so you can either participate in those or create on yourself. Take a look at them and see how they are set up, if it is not quite what you need then just emulate the closest one and adapt it to what you wanted.
Not keen on this idea because it encourages people to ignore the forum and just go straight for the freebies. There's already a thread that does this, and that makes me uneasy too.
If you gift the code in person (by PM), for example like in GOG Community gifting thread, there's higher probability that the game will not be wasted. First come first serve basis encourage people to flooded that particular section and grab whatever they can, even they have no intention to play the game.

Hum not really, if you precise what game it is, like Asbeau does, people will have time to think before grabbing the game. So there's that ...
All very good points! I suppose the forums are the way to go. Btw, I had no idea the GOG forums were so active! I'll be coming here a lot more :)

That's the beauty of a truly global community. Frankly, The GOG forum is by far the most multi-national user board I've come across since I've been using the internet.
