Sorry about all the threads this morning, I promise I'll back off the rest of the day after I'm done with this one. I have NO CLUE of this is in any way related to the games but it popped up as soon as I tweeked some of my game icons and then rebooted.

Any ideas? It doesn't seem to be screwing up any thing else but if someone sees something I don't and can prevent further distress I would appreciate it. :D Again, I promise I'll ease up on the chronic posting for a while. :-)

I have no idea how screwing with icons can cause that (read your other thread), but I can offer some possible approaches:

Before anything else, check that said .dll is where the picture says it needs to be. Let's for a moment assume it's all there.

First, try to manually start said program: Dell Security Center or whatever it is. Alternatively, if it's running but not properly, go in task manager, kill its process (don't know what it's called) and then try to restart it.

If that doesn't help, try actually restarting Windows. I've had occasions where certain programs or services wouldn't load properly on startup, one-off occurrences.

If that fixes nothing, I could offer further, more involved troubleshooting, or you might just need to reinstall this Dell Security Center thingy, provided you actually want it. I'm assuming it came with the PC and there's a backup installer somewhere.

I should have updated this. I still have the problem but it obviously has NOTHING to do with games or GOG or any of that stuff. I figured that much out from just poking around.

As for restarting windows that doesn't help and actually that is the only time the message comes up..

I eventually broke down and sent an email to Dell maintenance (hey it's free!) and I'll wait a and see how that goes. As far as turning off the said program I think it may be off but I'm no good at reading this stuff. So long as it doesn't screw up my normal routine I'll be fine but I'll feel much more at ease when and if Dell emails back to tell me it's no big deal.

I doubt it will screw up anything. It's the kind of thing I remove on sight - bloatware that just takes up precious RAM. That's assuming you have another running antivirus, or whatever this thing is supposed to do. If you actually do use it...

I found the program. It's called "Dell Control Point Security Manager". Let me play with that for a bit.
I missed your previous threads but here is some detailed info on the DLL and its associated process, etc. The key part of that Unhandled Exception to keep in mind is "or one of its dependencies."

Yeah, the next thing I was going to offer is tinkering with the Windows services, but let's not dig too deep just yet.
Try a system restore to a point from a day or two ago before the problem arose, if you have such a restore point.
I found a forum that told me to 86 it especially if I'm using Windows because that covers everything that program does, so I did. No more message and everything seems to be working smooth.

Lemme try a few things and if everything is groovy then I'll come back in here and give Spinorial credit for the answer as he gave me a starting spot.

Sorry Hampster, but if it make you feel any better your avatar is way cooler than 99% of the others on this or any other forum. :D

Seems perfectly fine. Thanks everyone. I was saving this link for when I was really in dire straits but with people like you around that may never happen so here goes anyway. keep this for the next time you PC turns on you. XD

PUNCHLINE!
Dell just got back to me and suggested removing my entire hard drive and sending it to them so they can better determine a course of action. They even offered to pay for the shipping.

Dell, I love you guys, you make a damn fine machine, but come on now, ease up! XD

Not that I can help you as I do not have the game myself, but before other fellow GOGers can help you, you should at least help them first by giving out more background information such as:
(*). What is the Operating System that you use, is it Linux, Windows, or Mac.
(*). In which directory/folder did you install the game.
(*). What are your computer specs.
etc.

We need more info before we can try to help. Oh and welcome to the forum.
