As a fan of adventure games, the Telltale Adventures sale is very tempting. However, I really don't want to spend more than $10 on them, since there are other games I'm interested in that might get a daily deal later. Which games does everyone think are the most worth it?
I haven't played them, but the Sam & Max games (especially Devil's Playhouse) and Tales of Monkey Island seem to be the most highly regarded ones.
I havent played the sam and max ones yet but Monkey Island is a seriously good laugh. It's one of the more fun games I have played in years.
The first couple episodes from Sam and Max Save The World were good, I thought. Haven't gotten around to the rest of them yet though, so dunno if the humor continues to hold up.

If you're a Wallace and Gromit fan, you'll probably like Grand Adventures. (Not the same VA for Wallace as the show, but he pulls it off well enough.) If not a fan or unfamiliar with it... might be better to give it a pass, or at least check out an episode to see if it's your kind of humor first.

Haven't played Back to the Future or any Monkey Islands yet, so can't personally say anything on those. Heard good things about both though, for what that's worth.
Tales of Monkey Island is definitely the one I would recommend. I find Sam & Max to be pretty touch & go.

Does it matter much if I haven't played the original Monkey Island? I mostly just have vague recollections of watching my brother play it (especially the bit with the shrunken head giving directions).

Not at all! There are some references which you won't get if you haven't played the others, but it's far from required.
Don't forget about the underdogs! Wallace & Gromit is pretty fun too :P

Do you know how long is Tales of Monkey Island and the other games? Are there multiple endings?
Back to the future makes for a nice 4th movie, provided you liked the previous 3, but it's a bit lacking as an adventure game. I only recommend it for the story.

How are the puzzles? My only point of reference are the old King's Quest games, since I haven't gamed much for quite a while.

Eh, ToMI is probably 10-20 hoursish to complete all the episodes? Depends how stuck you get. :P I can't speak for the others. There are not multiple endings.
Thanks for everyone's help! I couldn't stand it and had to get both Tales of Monkey Island, and a Sam and Max. Now off to work :)
