Damuna: Also, I'm sorry! Once I have online banking again, you'll be the first person on my list.
That's fine. I've already gotten myself quite a library since I joined, the need for the generosity of others isn't quite what it was a few months ago, though I may be $400 richer if people were feeling particularly giving to me during the holidays.
What can I say? It was a huge sale, I wanted to take advantage of it and have at least a year's supply of gaming and not have to worry about waiting for any more sales. I bought everything that looked and sounded interesting to me, and possibly anything my friends might like, since they seem to enjoy my game library almost as much as I enjoy perusing through their refrigerators and cupboards...
I can't lie, obviously I have plenty of GOG's I haven't even played, but I've bought few games since then, and I'll be ready the day an Interplay sale finally shows up!
My funds are still rather low after that little shopping spree, sadly I haven't gifted much this year, but hopefully that should change by the latter half of this year. Again, no promises if there's an Interplay sale this year. ;)
I never got to buy any PC games during my childhood. Everything was either shareware or pirated, as my dad believed that games would ruin his computer (...and I'd often play in secret, since he'd link any game playing to his difficulty with computers and beat me for it!). A good number of games, such as Doom, Heretic, Hexen, Duke Nukem 3D, Quake, Descent, HoMM3, and Rise of the Triad, I had played demos of several times. A few games I had managed to pirate or found used copies of in thrift stores and was able to buy with lunch money during my later years.
I just plain missed out on a lot of the games I have here on GOG. I remember wanting to get the full version of many shareware games, but I never got the chance to register any of them. Now it's free, almost all of the games I'd wanted back then are either free or dirt cheap, that's pretty cool.
So yeah, putting it that way, it's not that much to spend when it makes up for years of not buying any PC games. :P
