I stopped reading there. I hate sites that employ that useless page views trick in an attempt to look more popular than they truly are. Someone want to at least post the top ten here?

I'll do one better and just say the number one title. It's Portal. That should tell you if you either hate or tolerate the list.

And I think it's smart that most of the tiles are current-gen. The majority of the best games ever made have come out in the last 5-6 years.
Speaking of best-of lists, some of us in Mumble/GOG IRC have been compiling a best PC games list. What do you think?

#10 - Mass Effect 2
#9 - Super Metroid
#8 - Half-Life 2
#7 - Shadow of the Colossus
#6 - Super Mario Bros 3
#5 - The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker
#4 - Grand Theft Auto IV
#3 - Chrono Trigger
#2 - Tetris
#1 - Portal

I would like to point out that they said they weren't judging on which games were the most important, innovative, etc. They were making a list of games that were genuinely fun, and that they would heartily recommend to people today.
Grand Theft Auto IV at #4 was a joke. It wasn't that good even as a GTA game. How there was no mention of Vice City is completely beyond me.

GTA IV was so so boring to me, it didn't do anything extremely new or innovative, neither was it any better than the previous games

All hype and no substance

In light of not wanting to start a long drawn out argument, I'll just say I don't agree with eight entries in their top ten -- and I'm not going to say which I do/don't agree with, other than I don't agree with Portal as #1.
the entire list is ok except for the top 10
It is a list, like any other. Being posted on a somewhat popular site means nothing.

Had a glimpse in it, and none of the top 10 deserve to be in there.
Portal was a cute, fun, creative game, but hardly the best game ever. But then, I've never understood the insane obsession over it to begin with. I have my own choices of which I would say are the best games ever, but people would accuse me of being obsessed over them as well.

So I guess what I'm saying is, don't get worried if you game isn't #1, it will be on some other list.

EDIT: Also, Wind Waker? Seriously? Link to the Past was 100x better. /rant

There is lots of eye-raising stuff in there. Plenty of Blizzard love but not one Command & Conquer? Not one? SRSLY? Not even Red Alert 2? Street Fighter gets a place but no mention of Mortal Kombat at all or The King of Fighters. I suppose people can spend weeks arguing about what games deserve a mention which only goes to show how futile lists are as everyone's top 100 is different.

NO BALDUR'S GATE 2??? SRSLY??
Bah, I love and hate these lists in equal measure.

I love the way it allows you to have an insight into the list-makers thinking, if they prefer newer games, console games, shooters, action or whatever.

I hate the way they define them as the "best" games, set a bunch of arbitrary rules on this, then proceed to break them.

For the record, here's my nit-picking...

GTA:SA and GTA4 could both be replaced with GTA: Vice City.
Not sure Secret of Mana deserves to be in that list.
NO ULTIMA! By the virtues... you'd think they'd throw us a bone in a top 100 (U7 perhaps)
I'd suggest Quest for Glory (fourth one perhaps) deserves an entry (I'd also want SQIV...)
No Phantasy Star, but two Final Fantasy games...
Three mutliplayer shooters (Q3, Counterstrike and TF2), surely could be reduced to one

And that's all I can be bothered to say. I may chip in on the GOG list though, but I'd hope you guys would have my sort of choices covered!

[edit] to second what Delixe has said, I don't think they included a single Westwood or Bullfrog game... let alone something as well known as Baldur's Gate 2.

SLP2000: s usual in such lists, too many new games, too many console games, too many shooters and racing games.
Too many new games, too many shooters, and too many racing games I can understand. But what exactly would be the right number of console games?

* Insert whinging about PC gaming elitism here. *

No Bladerunner. #listfail

Hell no freaking TIE FIGHTER!!! Ok i'm walking away before I get angry now.
I played

#91 Quake 3 Arena
#75 KOTOR
#72 Super Smash Bros Melee
#71 Team Fortress 2
#70 Beyond Good and Evil
#65 Sega Rally Championship
#58 Fallout 2 (bastards. should be higher)
#55 Doom 2
#52 Sim City 3000
#51 Tony Hawk 3
#50 Grim Fandango
#45 Warcraft III
#38 Diablo II
#33 Half Life
#28 Oblivion
#25 Deus Ex
#24 Civilization IV
#22 Batman: AA
#12 BioShock
#10 Mass Effect 2
#8 Half Life 2
#2 Tetris
#1 Portal

Only 23...

Personally I quite like those lists. 100 best games of all time... however you define that term.
They are somebody's else lists and of course they are completely 100% subjective. So is mine and so is yours.

Nevertheless I would like to, hope to, play all of them. So when 40 years from now I read a book about gaming history some great game will be mentioned and I can say: heh. I played it!
