Corpse Party on PSP

To be quite honest, I didn't ever find that particularly scary. Just really cool.

There was also The Dark Eye, if you don't mind old games, a first person point&click adventure about E.A. Poe's tales. Quite eerie sometimes, too. Not sure where to get it these days though and if it would run smoothly on modern systems.

The tub freaked me out a bit, so did the bios error. Walking around without a head was weird, too.

I've got that one. It's awesome.

Project Zero 1 & 2 on Ps2 and Xbox , some very scary moments . ;)

Someone said they were freaked out by Planescape: Torment, don't know how that could be but if you haven't played it you should - its the BEST game and is very dark and weird if not actually scary

A good old game was, Are You Afraid of The Dark Tale of Orpheo's Curse.
Great game for a point and click. has a lot of jump scares, but the best parts are the chase scenes and countdown events.

My personal favorite is Penumbra: Overture. Black Plague was certainly frightening (and did polish some of the rougher edges of Overture), but it kinda turned the surreal mystery and horror in Overture into something a little more explicable. And in some ways, it started getting a little goofy. Never tried Requiem.

Amnesia is really good as a horror experience, but there are some things that don't personally work for me. For one thing, it's almost unrelentingly unpleasant to play.

Yeah, you already said something similar a few pages ago (or one if you have 50 posts per page). You also had a Morrowind avatar back then :-P

This is over a year old. That was some serious necroing by ZombieSlayer (might I recommend a name change to ZombieBringer?).

I did end up getting Amnesia last year. I played maybe an hour or two on a friend's PC and then downloaded it to mine and played a whole 8 minutes.

Now, I might go back to it but I just didn't find it compelling. And now I have that horrible problem of too many games again! [insert 1st world problem meme here] So I probably won't get to it for a while. I have this fantasy that in 6 years or so my son will be able to help me work on my backlog. :D

I have to fully recommend The Walking Dead. That has been an awesome non-shooter story-driven "game." (I would call it a game, but I know others wouldn't)

The Thief games come to mind, whenever there are supernatural levels involved. While technically FPS games, they make you very weak against every threat you come across, so the horror is much more palpable when confronting the unnatural.

The Fatal Frame series, especially the second one.
