Don't know if anyone else has heard about this. At first the trailer just looked like another generic "teens go to a remote cabin and get slaughtered" movie, but then it seems like there's an interesting twist. Doesn't look magnificent, but still might be entertaining
Looks mildly entertaining, might keep an eye out.

On the other hand, have you seen Tucker and Dale vs Evil? One of the better 'cabin in the woods' movies that I've seen in a while, though the second half does start to dwindle.

I haven't heard of that, but I might check it out.

A great and original concept and the first half is fantastic :)
I'd recommend not watching the trailer, it gives away many of the funny bits.

I'm not entirely sure what this movie is supposed to be. Government conspiracy? (There was a brief shot in the trailer of special forces-type guys mobilizing.) Sci-Fi action adventure? (What with the secret labs and such.) Generic Teen Horror?

It's Joss Whedon. So probably all of the above. The guy likes to combine genres.
I saw the trailer a few days ago. At first I thought it was an Evil Dead remake, then suddenly it seemed to transform into something much closer to Cube. I think it could be interesting.
The title reminds me on "Snakes on a plane".

Why bother with a script or anything, just but the plot in the title ;-P
This movie was great fun, did anyone else end up seeing this? Walking out of this one at the end, I felt the same sort of excitement I did when I saw The Avengers. It was epic in the same sort of way, funny in the same sort of way, Goddard and Whedon really nailed it. Very funny stuff, and even though you know there's some sort of twist going in it managed to blow away my expectations.

I saw this mentioned in a review but it was worth mentioning; it was nice to have such a grand universe fully explored, without any pretense of a sequel. They really give you everything you could want, similar to how The Avengers was an absolute crowd-pleaser.

Color me impressed, it was awesome, and I hope everyone who cares to see it gets to see it in theaters.

I'm definitely going to see it, but I'll wait for the DVD release. I've made a solemn vow never ever to watch any scary movie in a theater again. The last time I did that was with Paranormal Activity 2. There were a dozen teenagers sitting near the front of the theater, and they screamed at EVERYTHING! Not just the scary stuff, but really damn near anything that happened, whether it was an actual shock effect, or just someone turning on the light. It completely ruined the experience for me.
Orcishgamer saw it when it was released and posted that it was well worth seeing: This Thread. Sounds good, but I'll likely wait until it's on DVD before seeing it though.
Well I'm going to go ahead and blame GOG's search for not finding that thread before I resurrected this one, but he's hell of right about how good it is, and I had to say something based on the fact that I'm still riding the joy from seeing it last night!

EDIT: The scale of the movie really does make it worth seeing in theaters, I have to say. I know it's expensive and easier to wait for DVDs... but man, was it a satisfying movie-going experience.

Probably the best horror comedy I've seen in the past few years.
Such a simple concept, but nicely done.
A great popcorn movie that will have you yelling "OH COME ON" at the screen IMO.
I know it kinda sounds like a sales pitch (and you've already seen it), but it's just the way I would describe it if anyone asked me what I thought about it :P

Edit: Aw man, didn't see some wanker necro'd the thread.
