frostcircus: I still have a boxed copy of this!
I'm not a fan though. Chargen is AWESOME, but pretty much everything else is mediocre and buggy beyond belief. In my book, Arena and Morrowind are the games where Bethesda hit the sweet spot between ambition and functionality.
Daggerfall just collapsed under its own weight. It's full of great ideas, and if they were more refined the results could've been excellent (this earns it a place on the tiny list of games I'd actually play a remake of), but they just weren't given the time needed. It's a mess.
It's still worth playing, because it's kind of a captivating mess, with an almost dadaist appeal. There's no other game like it, which gives it value even if only as a curiosity (think JP: Trespasser). I'm just not sure it would pass CD Projekt's requirement of being a 'good' old game.
I disagree. Many consider it to be in the top 10 PC RPG list. And a Mobyrank of 80 is higher than some games already on GOG. Not perfect sure, but definitely a good old game.
