Well, my dear chimpy friend, your rules have put me in a bit of a predicament. Better than most, you are probably aware of how difficult such decisions are for me. Ideally, I'd just pass on the GOG gift, to one who's really eager for something new to play. Alas, rules are rules, and you tend to be stricter than most in that regard. So, I had a looksie at my wishlist, and among the multitude of sneaky and stabby titles, I came up with a pick out of left field: Cossacks Anthology. Somewhat at odds with my recent leanings, but it seems to be unlike anything I've tried before; an RTS outlier, if you will. So, that then settles the tough choice, and let's hope someone with a better idea of what they want gets theirs :P
A somewhat easier choice, as is sadly far too often the case, comes with the Steam keys. In line with my sneaky-stabby mood, my top wish would be Velvet Assassin. Soft fabrics and derrières are always a plus, too :P
The next two picks are a little tougher (I did say it's a somewhat easier choice:P), but in the end Austrobogulator's recommendation for Fish Fillets can't be ignored. Finally, I think Deadly Premonition would be a decent wacky last pick, mostly on a hunch.
So there, that resolves the picking dilemmas, but what about the end-times one? So many things to do, so little time. Ideally, I'd hitch a ride to someplace where I could meet my end through suitably exaggerated tidal forces. Given the local scarcity of neutron and hidden stars, however, I'd opt instead for a good old-fashioned blowing-through-the-savings. Yes, there are some. No, they aren't much. And I have no idea if they'll be enough to cover the end-of-the-world inflation. Then again, that probably goes for everything, so we'll assume it's not an issue.
The manner of blowing is a subject for debate. I'll probably want to hitch a plane to Cortina, do a little last-minute skiing. That solves the matter of the more physical bucket-listed activities. Plus, once in Italy I can finally eat pizza that's actually made competently. A cask of scotch would be nice to have, but I doubt I'll get some quickly enough. When the time comes, booze will be the first to go XD
There's lots of books I've been meaning to read, movies I've been meaning to watch, games I've been meaning to play, women I've been meaning to... entertain... No time for it all, not in a lifetime, certainly not in 30 days. Oh well. I'll probably pick out an unread classic Hugo winner, Ursula K. Le Guin perhaps. Watch one of those shows I've never gotten around to. Breaking Bad. The Wire. Whichever is shorter.
Then of course there's the backlog. I'm afraid a lot of it was picked out for long- and re-playability. I'm afraid puzzles won't be making that cut. Some strategies, too. I'll need to order a good joystick and an Oculus Rift (or will those go faster than the scotch), but by Jove!, I'll play Freespace like it was meant to be played! I won't be bothering with a new rig - too much time wasted on shipping and setup. More RAM will come from the nearest available store, but other than that the sliders will just have to go to the left :P Another HDD, too, if only to hold the stuff that's downloading in the background.
I'm pretty satisfied with the way things stand with my closest individuals. Unlike most others, I'd be happy to extract as much me-time out of this month as possible. I wouldn't mind first breaking the kneecap of every landlord I've ever had, though. Alas, that would probably waste too much time better spent elsewhere.
Finally, I'll have to find the time to refresh my Group Theory and Differential Geometry. Can't go meeting transcendence unprepared XD
So, my dear chimpy friend, thanks for giving me an opportunity to ponder the un-ponderable. Also, do know your efforts as a speakschimp are always appreciated :-)
