Competition is now closed
--------------------
Competition Statistics (updated daily):
Current number of entries: 73 (list)
# Day One Entries: 4
# Day Two Entries: 4
# Day Three Entries: 13
# Day Four Entries: 4
# Day Five Entries: 13
# Day Six Entries: 16
# Day Seven Entries: 11
# Final Hours Entries (so far): 8
--------------------
At the time of this posting, The Witcher 2 is only hours away from preload time, and less than a week before it is released. To help with the countdown, hopefully create some hype, and unlock the creative potential of the GOG.com and The Witcher communities, I hereby announce a contest where ten winners will come away with their own free copy of The Witcher 2 - one of the most anticipated games this year. But there is more; two additional award categories grant you other games from GOG, and a mysterious and epic fourth award that has just been unleashed!
Competition rules:
- The competition started on May 3rd 2011, and accepted entries for one week. It ended May 10th; the day The Witcher 2 went into preloading period.
- The competition is now closed, but participants entered by giving me a message where they tried to convince me why they should deserve to win the Witcher 2. The more fun, intelligent, original or just pure kickass the entry was, the higher their chance of winning. All winning entries will be posted on the forums unless otherwise stated by the participant. The message could be in any medium - text, music, photos, videos, whatever. It could be fanart, fanfic, simple request, songs, poems, whatever they wanted! I only told them to be original and creative, but most importanly: to have fun.
- Participants may revise or replace their contribution only one time after entering.
- If you use copyrighted material, be sure you check with the copyright holder before submitting. Any artwork should either be made by you, or with written consent from the originator. Keep in mind that your entry may be posted publicly if you should win.
- Make sure you allow other members to send messages to you on the new PM system, so that I can let you know if you should win, and send your reward. Check your account settings for details.
- Winners will be announced each day between May 10th and May 13th in a separate thread.
- To further entice people to participate, there will be three main winning categories, with 10 winners in each:
10x The Gold Award:
The gold award winners takes home one copy each of the Witcher 2. They will be free to choose either the GOG edition or the Steam Edition. Gold winners will also receive 22$ worth of GOG games of their choice (either 2x 9.99$ games, or 1x 9.99$ game + 2x 5.99$ games, or 3x 5.99$ games).
10x The Silver Award:
Silver winners get 22$ worth of GOG games of their choice (again, either 2x 9.99$ games, or 1x 9.99$ game + 2x 5.99$ games, or 3x 5.99$ games).
10x The Bronze Award:
Winning bronze grants you 10$ worth of games on GOG (either 1x 5.99$ game, or 1x 9.99$ game).
?x White Wolf Award:
There is also a shady beast lurking among the awards: a epic fourth award. A white wolf; shy, stealthy, rare to mythological proportions. Reserved for the creative genius who's contribution is so unique, offbeat, and just plain fantastic that I can only bow down in worship and admiration. Frankly, you'll have better luck taming a unicorn.
White Wolf Award details:
70$ Worth of games on GOG, can also be redeemed in part or in full as a Amazon gift certificate
1x Digital copy of The Witcher 2 (GOG or Steam edition by choice)
- All winners will be contacted minutes before they are officially announced. If you have won the Witcher 2, you will be asked to choose which edition you prefer, and will be gifted this as soon as possible, so you can start preloading. You can choose which (additional if you won gold) GOG game you wish to receive at any time this year; you do not have to redeem at once.
- Winner decisions are final and non negotiable.

Questions and Answers
I work as something of a freelancer. Currently, I'm helping out at a hospital in the city, and run a small-time baking service for friends, relatives and folks around town. The reason I can afford to finance a contest like this, is only that I have been saving up for it for the last few months, ever since the community Q&A event back in March.
The idea is to put the launch of The Witcher 2 as much as possible in the hands of this community, and I thought a creativity contest could be a fun and interesting way to do just that. ;)
With that, I wish all participants good luck, and may the best entries win!
Edit 03\05::
Fixed typos, restructured introduction segment.
Edit 04\05:
Added early competition statistics and some questions and answers.
Edit 05\05:
Updated countdown and competition statistics. The new private messaging system is now online and should be used for all entries from here on in. If you have previously sent me an entry on the older service, you do not have to resend. Unless you want to.
Edit 06\05:
Updated countdown and competition statistics. Also, welcome to everyone from the official Witcher community who will be joining us here at GOG for the competition! Also tweaked award levels: Gold and Silver awards both get up to 17$ worth of additional GOG games, as opposed to 12$ before.
Edit 07\05:
Updated countdown and competition statistics. Again tweaked the award levels: Gold and Silver now get up to 22$ worth of games on GOG, while Bronze grants you 10$ (updated from 5.99$ before). These are now the final numbers and will not be tweaked again.

Signmeup2gog: Before I consider entering the competition can you define this abit better?
''where you convince me why you - and you alone - should deserve to win the Witcher 2. The more fun, intelligent, original or just pure kickass the entry is''
Do I write a heartfelt biography? Poetry? Fanfiction (lol)?
Essentially, anything you like. Just have fun! :) ''where you convince me why you - and you alone - should deserve to win the Witcher 2. The more fun, intelligent, original or just pure kickass the entry is''
