Voight-Kampff: I didn't realize it was supposed to PROVE anything. Theres nothing to be upset about. We've known about this for a long time. Nobody is deeming women useless because of this.
We still need them to grow the children.. Atleast for now.. ;)
cheesetruncheon: I'm just annoyed at how many other articles that are exactly the same are floating about, with no actual research presented just a simple 'yeah uhh girls have smaller brains' and of course more infuriating to me, the representation of video games in this series of articles.
But it's the same old same old, a news site needs a story but can't be bothered to put time and effort into it so they just but a picture and say 'the reasons why boys are failing, it's because of female teachers! because boys don't like to learn and other boys bully them because of learning! video games cause addiction!' I challenge you to find an article in this series where they've backed up their evidence with a source, or gotten second and third opinions actually given valid reasons instead of recycling the exact same theme 3 times bringing brain size into account and using a scapegoat.
I can't blame you, it goes both ways. It's unusual to see women gripe about studies that favor them. It doesn't happen as often where it favors men, so it's hard for me to gauge if that's just a general reaction that people have or if it's something that women are more inclined to.
But, I frequently see studies being touted where it's clear that the person hasn't any clue as to how the numbers were derived or that it's complete bunk. For instance, despite popular belief women are over compensated in the US when it comes to work, not under compensated, the conclusion was made based upon one dimension of compensation and when you actually account for more factors the results don't look at all bad for women.
But men in the US have been beaten down for so long that at this point women can pretty much get away with whatever they like.
