It seems that you're using an outdated browser. Some things may not work as they should (or don't work at all).
We suggest you upgrade newer and better browser like: Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer or Opera

I don't care for the most part. Just make it optional, otherwise just install greasemonkey with
the script to stop them from showing.

-_-

Okay never mind. Just get rid of them GOG.

ceemdee: What ever could you be talking about? Signatures are tiny and not noticeable at all...
Thankfully, they are.
But the one thing that's even better than barely noticeable signatures are no signatures at
all, so thanks to all the resourceful users who are already working on solutions. Much
appreciated.

Heh, I didn't.

It's a nifty little feature.
These signatures are pretty low-key and easy to ignore. Don't know why they even bothered to implement them, but at least they're not bad.

If it had been image signatures I'd be up in arms. My Adblock Plus block list is already littered with blocked addresses of stupid image signatures.

I had the same reaction. If they implement images I would prefer it they also add an option to block others signature images, most forums usually have such a function.

An advanced search function and an advanced ignore list would be more welcome though.

gameon: I have never understood the need for sigs. We kind of already have space for a message beside our
avatars.

Bavarian: Yeah, 16 pathetic characters. What kind of message can you put into 16 characters? That's not
even enough for simple phrases with more than two words. Too much to be wasted, too little to be
useful.
I don't have much need for a signature, too. But it doesn't hurt as long as it's done in a moderate
way. Text only, a useful (!) limited number of characters, decent font and size. I think it's
the best possible way they could have done it.
But hey, aren't there more important issues with the forum and the whole site to be taken care of
than frickin signatures?
Yes. The fact that posts get lost, quotes are always broken, links get broken in pm's. All sorts of forum bugs.
Argh. If you edit your post and there's a link that goes onto a second line, it'll insert a line break and break the link. Damnit. It made some of my hidden links show up temporarily. :/

reaver894: Which begs the question "Why has GoG implemented a feature people didnt really want or at least
poll the users to be told they didnt want it?"
There were actually an awful lot of votes for a signature feature in the "Request a Site Feature" area.

Eh, is not so bad. Any stupid ones will be weeded out eventually.

That's a person of consequence, it seems...

SimonG: Jesus Christ. What is with the repping in this thread. Everybody, take a nice cup of calm the fuck
down.

wpegg: I really think a better forum feature than sigs would be if we could see who downrepped.
That would be awesome. No more, will cowards be able to hide...
Hello - a quick update on behalf of the dev team.

The backstory: Forum sigs are one of the extra features we've had for quite some time in our local development versions of the forum. Sigs were never released, as we weren't 100% happy with the them, both visually (see the big gap between body and the signature) and especially functionally (option not to display them), not to mention they aren't the top priority either :)

Fast forward to today: with yesterday's minor update we've accidentally pushed this feature to the live servers without us noticing until late in the evening (or this very morning, in my case :). With other fixes to be applied, forum sigs will be pulled back for now until they are ready for the prime time.

I'm curious about this as well. I personally certainly don't want them. The thing is though, since they're here, I can't help but use them. It's a conundrum.

Even more curious is how they could lift to production a post editor which is obviously more broken than ever before. It doesn't take a whole lot of testing to spot it either.

It's nice to see you have well-defined development processes that you adhere to rigidly ;-p
