This was unexpected, but definitely deserved, we won't argue about that ;) NowGamer, a multiformat videogames website, have published a list of "Most Influential People in the Games Industry" where among many great names, the staff have included Guillaume Rambourg - GOG.com's Managing Director! GOG and its boss appeared on the list for preserving the history of gaming and revitalizing classics for next generations of gamers. That's an honor for the whole GOG Team and an incentive to work even harder and bring even more great classics to the catalogue.
That's terrific. Completely deserved!

Congratulations! Well deserved.
congrats well deserved :)
Great job, GOG team!
Popping in before class to say congratulations!

Is it really a surprise to you, though?
NowGamer ?
Never heard of it .
Great!! Let's celebrate this be giving us a free game :D
Let's check our list, here....

--Made it possible to legally purchase and play old PC games, breathing new life into old classics? CHECK.

--Put the pressure on other digital distributors to start offering the same classic hits? CHECK.

--Convinced doubting publishers that there was money to be made in reviving retired titles? CHECK.

--Did all of the above without DRM, thus making the point that the vast majority of PC gamers are more than willing to pay for good value received. DOUBLE CHECK.

Yes, I'd say that GOG's recognition is well-deserved. Congratulations, gentlemen. )

Congrats!
Nice, but any list of influential video game people that doesn't include Shigeru Miyamoto (creator of Mario, Zelda, Star Fox, Donkey Kong, Yoshi... just to name a few) is hardly a list worth reading.
I'm sure there are others who should be on that list as well, but leaving off the creator of the most popular video game characters of all time just makes no sense. It would be like making a list of the most influential cartoon creators of all time and leaving off Walt Disney.

But anyway, congrats to GOG, and keep up the good work.
I would have to agree. I've been out of the PC gaming scene since the mid to late nineties, and even then I barely played PC games, but because of GOG I've already bought and played several games I'd never even heard of and have had tons of fun with them, not to mention my wish list! So congrats, to the team at GOG. I believe your business model is a very wise and unique one compared to the now oversaturated pc digital download sites and as a gamer who appreciates the history of gaming, GOG is very appreciated.

Sort out Lucas Arts and get them on board. PLEASE.
This is a great site with a great community. Its a well won award.
Congratulations on making it on the list!

For the people who complained about big names not being on there:
I don't think this list is meant to be historical. It looks like a list of the people they think are big influences right now.
