Number 5 and 4 are what scared me the most.

I think I'll stick with classic stuff from GoG and PS2. :)

Basically, it summarized up on how we (majority, I presume) feels about the game industry.
He's obviously a CoD fan...and yes, gaming is gonna degrade pretty soon.

It's already degraded but this time the indies will have an easier time providing for those niche markets that still want gaming the old-school way. No more selling floppies in zip lock baggies like Richard Garriot. Now, they can sell directly (think Jeff Vogel, Soldak Entertainment, Basilisk Games etc) or through Steam.
Oh look, fear-mongering isn't exclusive to politics anymore.
cracked is a pretty good and funny site, but that article was a total bull's eye. I'm glad GOG exists, because it means that I will always have the choice in my games, even if it means playing 15 years old games.

Damn right.
This gave me a good laugh. Too many games are copy cats of each other.
Oh look, there's David Wong being wrong again.

Would you care to elaborate?

It's David Wong. He likes to write to induce panic and over-hype anything he writes about. Last year at EA was pretty much this exact same article, only touting the complete and utter death of gaming forever. And then somewhere in between it was credit cards are evil. And then one about no one being capable of giving a shit about anyone else. And so on and so on and scooby dooby doo.
Oh, i see. thanks for shedding some light.
Meh....I brought up the point about hackers back when consoles first started going online heavy duty.

I had my experiences with the GameCube's Phantasy Star Online.
The sky is falling.

Just as it has always been.
So here I am, after reading hundreds of pages on what exactly "playing" is and this guy nonchalantly writes "oh - these things with a plot ? They're not games - never were and never will be".
-_-

After explicitly stating that "people don't know what a game is", he proceeds to make statements based on a somewhat-defined but pretty messed up misconception about the same thing he claimed people are unsure about... Lovely.
Not to mention that today's the day Alice: Madness Returns goes live, I'm impatiently consuming every bit of information about Diablo 3 and Might and Magic: Heroes 6 looks pretty damn attractive, even despite me not having finished the prequels...
But yeah, I'm not really competent enough, since I usually stick with older games rather than write sensationalist articles based on lack of research and some wild imagination...
