So, several times ago (maybe one year?) I opened a thread about Majora's Mask. Several days later, I dropped the game, to be precise at the point where you must retrieve the seven stolen eggs.

One week ago I started again a brand new game, and I just reached (and passed) that part...and is simply horrible.

I think is one of the worst point in the entire Zelda franchise.

You must fined four eggs in a fortress, guarded by several Gerudo. The "funny" part is, this is a stealth level. If they see you, pam, they send you again in the beginning of the level. Yes, there are two screens, and if you pass the first and they discover you, they will send you back in the beginning of the second screen, but this part is still boring like hell. I read that if you own a specific mask the Gerudo will let you pass, but I haven't that, so...

But the very, very bad thing is: if you haven't four bottle, you must do this level...twice! Yes, because you must retrieve four eggs in this location, and if you own only three bottles, you must return back in a specific screen, empy your bottles into a pool, then do the WHOLE level again.

I spent four hours on this because, you know, the save system in Majora simply SUCKS (you can save only when you travel back to Day One).

A nightmare, simply a nightmare.

I found that Majora is the BEST Zelda game, with adult themes, a dark world with this apocalypse incoming...but there is simply too backtracking. If you wanna collect all the masks, you must spent hours by doing the same side-quests because they give you different rewards if you give one items to a specific character or another (like the Kafei quest, you can obtain both the postman hat or a bottle).

Stealth missions in non-stealth based games almost always suck, I remember a stealth mission being the low point of Wind Waker as well.

Oh yeah, they tried to crow-bar in a stealth mechanic to Fable too, that was a bit rubbish also

The stealth section on Ocarina was very easy, instead the one in Majora is a nightmare, because those Gerude can hear you from miles, and if they discover you...from the beginning.
Oh hey, I remember that.

Protip: If I'm not mistaken you can stun them briefly using arrows and the hookshot in both games. Additionally, there are some paths that go around some of the more overwhelming parts if you can find them.

Make sure to keep your distance when fighting the mini-bosses throughout both Majora's and Ocarina because if they spin attack you, you get knocked out and lose if I remember correctly.

I passed the section already :)

So you made it? Glad to hear it!

I do have to agree, Majora's Mask was a bit of a flop from most perspectives. While some elements are nice, portions of the plot fall apart, there's a lot I felt that got implemented and never finished (Could/should of had more, wasn't ended right, felt generally off, etc.), and some of the challenges seemed a bit half-baked at best. Sniping the ghosts at the ranch, the Gerudo Fortress, racing for a magic bottle... It's like that part in Oracle of Ages where you need to perform Dance Dance Revolution as a part of the main plot for the game or you can't continue...

Above all else though - Majora's Mask itself was a pretty bad excuse for a boss... Regardless of whether or not you got the final mask... Not that I found most of the bosses in that game particularly compelling.

I haven't seen those screenshot, but now I'm inside the Great Bay Temple. I didn't tried Oracle of Ages/Seasons, so I can't give an opinion (I only played LoZ, ALTTP, OoT and TWW).

I like the game, but sometimes it comes with boring things or very hard challenges (like the one with the bow where you must hit 40 octo...it was simply a nightmare).
And...I beat it.

I can say, this one is the best Zelda I ever played.
The whole side-quest system is great, because sides are never boring or "empty", they add something to the story. I think the Anju and Kafei one is simply the best side I ever completed in a videogame.
Excluding that boring Gerudo section (if you have the Stone Mask you can skip all the stealth thing, and if you already own 4 bottles you can complete that part in ten minutes), the game is simply great. I liked a LOT the plot and the interpretation you can give about, I also completed the bomber's notebook and aquired all the masks, so I took the Fierce Deity Mask (with it, the final boss take around...five minutes? If you own six bottles filled with magic, you can beat it in no time, there is really no challenge).

The only hard boss was the Zora's Temple one, I took ages to beat it because swimming is awful.

It's a very emotional game, even more so than Ocarina of Time. I find it to be the most personal of the Zelda franchise, if that makes sense. The ending shot of the carving always gets to me.
I love Majora's Mask. Among my top 5 games of all time, I reckon. I didn't even hate the Gerudo Fortress because I just shot the fuck out of everything that moved.

If you like a challenge, try beating the bosses in different ways: killing Twinmold without resorting to Giant's Mask, for instance. No cheating with the super milk.
I remember that part a bit, and I don't have bad memories about it. That said, it may well be a gerudo theme side effect. Love that game and those gerudos.
