Inspired by a thread on another forum completely unrelated to gaming. I'm not sure how it'll work here, since that one deals with physical items (and potentially passing them on if you so desire), but I suppose it's worth a shot.

See this post for the latest giveaways.

Basically, anyone who wishes to gift a game can feel free to post here (with either an offer or just the key itself). Anyone who wishes to have the opportunity to get a game can PM the person offering it (or just redeem the key, if it's posted). The gifter can have some specific guidelines to be eligible for the game, or it could just be a 'first person to PM me gets it'. Hopefully the receiver will someday repay the favour by gifting a game to someone else in this thread.

To start off, I have Steam keys for the following games:
GONE: A.R.E.S. Extinction Agenda (plus Berserker suit DLC)
GONE: Scoregasm

I also have a GamersGate key for:
GONE: Sword of the Stars

PM me. One game per person, please. First come, first served.

there's a videogame pay it forward on reddit and it works pretty well. But they have some kind of system where they count how much each user has given and received.
I'm offering 4 games (one per person) off my GOGMix: http://www.gog.com/en/mix/games_you_should_play_if_you_havent

If you want one of the games, send me a reason why and any fanfic you care to write about it (based on what you know about the game, since you might not have played it, don't feel you have to be canonically accurate). If you include fanfic please include whether you're willing to let me post it anonymously or post it here if you're not too shy.

I can't say I'll necessarily pick the first four entries since I do want to encourage people to write something. I'll send gift codes tomorrow morning, you'll have a shiny new game for the weekend.

FINAL RULE: If you are not willing to start playing this game in the next week or two please allow someone who doesn't have anything to play to claim it instead.

Really nice of you.
I'm not entering since I'm deep in some other game at the moment, but I totally approve your finale rule.

I may however post some fanfic about a former lapdancer named Samantha who one day decides she really wants to have a SERIOUS job and becomes a lumberjack ;)

But probably I'll be too lazy and won't do it :(
If you're giving away Steam keys to indie bundle titles, you need to give away the Desura keys with them (as in the same person needs to get all keys associated with that game.) And on your honor you need to not download and play those games yourself, unless you buy them separately, or in a separate bundle.

Anything else is piracy.

Seeing as I primarily play point and click adventures, RTS, TBS, a few RPGs, and grand strategy games, I highly doubt that I'll ever touch the games I'm offering due to a lack of interest in the genre, which is why I'm giving them away to others who may be interested. I didn't notice that they offered Desura keys, though now that you mention it, I do see that they're under the Windows tab (I'm on a Mac). I'll now be sending out Desura keys with the game's respective Steam key.

ETA: Apparently, the Desura key provided is for the whole bundle itself, so I can't send that out, as I've already redeemed specific games in the bundles.

Bump, as the folks in the Americas arrive home. Please see me post a few posts up.
I've got extra copies the following 4 Steam games; first person to ask for a game gets it. Limit one per person. Just PM me the email address associated with your Steam account.

edit: All gone.

Indie Royale is fine with giving away codes of individual games.

Individual games, yes, but individual keys while you keep using the version of the game which does not require the key?

Based on what I read on Twitter, yes: https://twitter.com/#!/indieroyale/status/130579144076570624

How else could you give one game away? You will still have the direct download on your key page.

I have never played Master Of Orion, but judging from its title I am confident I have written an accurate portrayal of the game play at hand.

###############################################
The Master of Orion, an original epic tale by zomgieee
###############################################

Orion's Master appeared to be in an uncharacteristically good mood as he descended into the Lower Kitchens. Humming a bawdy ballad and taking the steps two at a time, the Master quickly reached the pastry chef.

'Orion !' the Master beamed. 'Fancy meeting you down here in the Kitchens. How *is* the Keep's *Cake Maker* today ?'

Orion had been the property of the Master for 14 of his 17 years now, and knew well that an answer was not expected or desired.

When no answer was forthcoming the Master continued with increased, manic enthusiasm.

'I would of assumed you would be preoccupied with Nebula. Apparently you two have been quite eager to find seclusion for great lengths of time in the eve. Although, goodness knows what two young people could possibly have to talk about at such sorrowful hours.'

Again the Master paused, apparently waiting politely for the other party to join the one sided conversation.

Orion barely heard the Master's baiting after Nebula's name was mentioned. He was filled with fear for Nebula's life (he had long ago stopped caring about his own), anger that they had gotten careless and thus caught, and not for the first time frustration at his own impotence over his own fate.

Lost in his own pensive thoughts, Orion realised too late that the Master had grown tired of the game at hand. "Answer me you DOG !" he roared, striding up to Orion and striking him hard on the temple.

Orion was of slight frame, and the unexpected blow easily knocked him to the floor, where he remained huddled in groggy confusion.

The Master drew up a chair besides the prone figure and set his considerably large frame down.

'So, what am I to do with you two ?' the Master resumed, returning to a steady calm voice. 'I suppose the simplest thing to do would be remove the problem. Merchant's daughters go missing all the time, I'm sure..'

'NO!' pleaded Orion.

The sheer desperation in Orion's voice pleased the Master. It had been a long time since he had been able to illicit such emotion from him. Truly, this was a fish whose line was worth paying out.

Showing care to disguise his delight, the Master continued. 'And what reassurance then, would I have, Orion ? What reassurance that Nebula wouldn't get with your child should she live ? No doubt, the next time your mate was in heat Orion the Dog would slink off into the night to answer. '

Rising deliberately slowly, Orion stood before his Master. People had been killed for less. He had SEEN people killed for less. It was too late for him, but in total surrender he hoped he could spare his beloved.

"Master, I am unworthy of your continued indulgence. I plead for your benevolence in pardoning Nebula. I gladly accept the hangman's noose.

The Master appeared to be incredibly fascinated with one of his many rings, turning it and pulling it past the first knuckle, then returning it to its original place. 'Hmmmmmmm, an interesting proposal, but good cake makers are *so hard to find*, Orion. No, no, there must be a, smaller, sacrifice perhaps, you can make.

The terrible grin returned across the Masters face, as he looked up from his hand to meet Orion's eyes, then shifting his gaze to stare at a large baking knife resting on a side table.

"Much smaller indeed, if you believe those talkative chamber maids.."

To all the winners, I screwed up your gift codes, for which I'm really sorry. I will be sending them out shortly as soon as I can get a support response.
