Sarioya: As long as they have some awesome extras on release (Maybe they can actually talk Square into letting them sort out the source code?), I'll sell the shirt on my back to by it/them. Otherwise, my Thief CDs are all in great condition and don't really need replacing any time soon.

Cadaver747: This will be my first time to buy such a great game legally!
Cool....btw I wonder if Garrett would approve of people pirating his game? Just a thought. ;)

And btw to all here i'd rather GOG provided both(or maybe shoehorned Dark Project in as an extra) seeing as some levels were changed in a major way(plot/item/etc wise) to accommodate the new levels and plots of same....they didn't just add new levels in and that was that. IMO one should play the original and then the GOLD version(but that's just me) to get a true vanilla experience.
I have been told that thief is the best stealth game But we should get the gold version.
Thief: Deadly Shadows... strictly in third-person perspective for me...

* ducks for cover :-P
I'm not familiar with how much the files vary between Gold and regular but it's possible that the GOG version might include both and let you choose between them. They have previously done this with releases like Gothic 2 Gold Edition, which overhauls the original game's content in a similarly substantial way.

That would be nice. Let's hope for that then. :)

I loved what I did play of that game.(As I said in other threads my OCD makes it hard for me to play games as I used to....large open game areas make me pause alot to check every detail/etc.).......like the intro mission to loot the manor and then having to try to fence the goods afterwards.

I never played the gold version of thief 1. I love the vanilla game and both the following games. I hope they let you choices between both versions.

Both are good afaik. I played up until about 2/3 of the way in of the original version, and didn't play much of the gold version yet. They play similarly in most levels, from what I have heard......but some levels were changed(items/objectives changed or removed in some levels to accommodate new levels/objectives.). This is why I hope they get both versions.

I did the same thing with thief 1. I got to the level where you had to get to the cathedral and for some reason stop playing.

What I love about thief games was I play 1 level for over an hour and still think I mist a few items.

I like how certain items(notes etc) change locations in the levels when you change difficulties......also how some items(some notes...etc) are added/removed into some levels depending on difficulty.

And yeah I got past the cathedral.....damn zombies were hard to kill sometimes, but that made it fun as well. The first few levels are some of my faves btw.....partially because I know them so well.

I love the first time you had to sneak around the Hammerrights (I think I spelled it right). I still can’t stand those busters.

I remember now the load time is what killed me. My computer could barely handle the game. Then I got a new one a few years later and it was a world of different. Thief 2 still works on my computer now but I left it at my mom and dad’s house when I moved.

I played all official Thief games and Thief Gold is the best in the series: there additional levels and creatures; especially I like mages and fire elementals (or something like that).
Never tried Fan Campaign expansions though, should give it a try some day :)
