Well, considering Steam's track record with game compatibility, the price savings aren't high enough to be worth the risk, IMO. I'd at least wait a few days until there are reports about how this version works.

(I have them all on discs anyway; I'll probably rebuy them for convenience only when the price drops really low.)
People on the Steam forums say that their version is near identical to the GOG version.
I already have the Thief collection thingy and an additional copy of T3 on Steam, so I won't be partaking, but this is a pretty great deal. I highly encourage anyone who hasn't played these fantastic games to pick up all 3 immediately. Don't know about compatibility since I don't have the Steam versions, but I would recommend using Tafferpatch and TGFix anyway, so it shouldn't make that much of a difference.
Was going to wait till they go on sale on GOG, but this is tempting..

Any chance of GOG matching steam's deal? :)

Maybe we could see all the titles going 50% off, which would be 15 dollars for 3 games, similar to Steams offer. But we dont know when this will happen.

If you dont mind DRM, just grab it. The Steam version does seem to be compatible with modern PCs, since it clearly states on the store page for Thief Gold that its xp and Vista compatible. The original version wouldnt even work on xp. Im pretty sure its patched the same way GOGs version is.

Probably not. If you really want them, then I'd suggest you go purchase it. (Don't wait for GOG to try to take the hint. ;)
Deadly Shadows is the best one HAR HAR SUCK IT OLD SCHOOL FANS!

... ;)
Bought them last night on Steam and can confirm that the first 2 games work absolutely fine in the same way that the GOG ones do. I think what happens with a lot of this back catalogue stuff from devs is code is handed back to the publisher after it has been completed here so they can then distribute it to various sellers in fully working form. Videos work fine, core affinity is locked to 1 so no lockups, simply works in the way it should.

Thief Deadly Shadows has always worked so no real need for any fixes, you can however get updated textures for the PC version of the game if you so wish, it looks really nice regardless for its age.

When T3 came out initially I was hesitant as it was also on console and they did slightly change a few of the mechanics of the game. Things like the blackjack, first two games if you hold the mouse button he holds it above his head ready to strike, T3 however even if you hold the mouse he swipes it immediately on a click.

Deadly Shadows though works really well with the hub system, travel through the town to get to your objective, adds to the immersion a great deal. It also has some amazing levels......mentioned so many times before Shalebridge Cradle. This level gives Silent Hill a run for its money, damned scary in every sense of the word, perfect sound and visuals and the backstory is one of the best ever.

Completely agree with StingingVelvet on this one, I do love the first 2 games as they are some of the first PC games I ever bought so they will always be fondly remembered and played by me. However, T3 does everything right and evolved the series, bit of luck when T4 lands the hubs will be replaced with a vast open city to explore to get you to your objectives.

Harrrbl garrrbl! No rope arrows and therefore verticality (the climbing gloves are a very poor substitute). And no swimming. And formerly huge levels now divided by mysterious blue fog and loading screens into tiny segments. And the fact that you can crawl soundlessly across any floor. And pretty much only one memorable mission in the campaign.
It wasn't bad, but it was a step back.

Git off mah lawn! :P

ROFL, you originate from Scotland, sounds like something from The Broons!!

I enjoyed the game must admit but the main problems with it was the fact it was designed for console (Origional XBox) and had to be pad friendly, the art assets on console were also used in the PC version so some look a bit low res but that is fixed easy enough with John P's Collective Texture Pack.

Thief 2 has to be one of the best games ever created and I still play it regularly but I honestly think that opening the game out a bit with the hub system wasnt to bad on T3, yeah the blue fog was a bit silly and the fact that you couldnt easily go across rooftops was a bit naff. Climbing gloves only kind of worked at the best of times. I do hope though that T3 will and its short comings will make the 4th game in the series awesome.

I remember on Thief 2 the first time I played it, scampering across the rooftops to get into the Hammerite temple through an upstairs window. Hiding in an alley next to an archway where there was a patrol of 5 guards. Sat watching them for a few minutes and every time they went past snuck up behind them, knocked one out and hid him in the shadows then back to hiding spot, rinse and repeat and they didnt even notice what was happening and numbers thinning! Another thing I really liked on Thief 2 was being able to sneak up on guards and stealing the arrows from their quivers and coin purses with them completely oblivious to you being there behind them.

Good to know, thanks for the report. But all in all, that's rather worrying for GOG's future, isn't it?

This. As much as I prefer the services Steam offers for new games, I'm not buying anything there that I consider a GOG. (Apart from the X-Com series, but it was a fiver and I've waited soo long here...).

And, in the end, we will all come here for support, and not the Steam forums. And I consider the awesomely awesome community here part of GOGs service, so I buy my GOGs here.
