New survival game from 11 Bit Studios

From dev site:

"This War Of Mine provides an experience of war seen from an entirely new angle. For the very first time you do not play as an elite soldier, rather a group of civilians trying to survive in a besieged city. During the day snipers outside stop you from leaving your refuge, so you need to focus on maintaining your hideout. At night you get a chance to scavenge nearby locations for items that will help you stay alive.

Make life-and-death decisions driven by your conscience. Try to protect everybody from your shelter or sacrifice some of them to endure the hardships. During war, there are no good or bad decisions; there is only survival. The sooner you realize that, the better."

I must say that trailer made me curious.
I wonder if this is the project that the Witcher 3 devs left to work on? In any case, I had always loved the idea of these kinds of survival games, and if I had more experience in working with 3D models and modding games, I'd have loved to try out ideas like escaping a sinking ship or a city under attack by a giant monster.
Very interesting concept. I'm looking forward to see how they make it into a game that is not depressing to play. Or maybe they will make it depressing to play. Books and films are allowed to be depressing so why not games? I'm not a consumer of those books and films so I won't be of the game but maybe there is a market for them. It would go a long way in making games accepted as an art form if most of them weren't like a Michael Bay film.
It's gonna be depressing alright.
Well, after watching the advert I can safely say that this game will not have to apply top of the range graphics to impress. I can only hope that this game can portray a moral and physiological perception on what it is undertaking. I would hate to get to the end of the game and see that now every-one lives life happily ever after. I feel that that would be both more depressing and mentally damaging then finding yourself endlessly just getting by in the game.

I know that we do not want to be depressed from the games we play, but I feel sometimes (I get depressed) that if you can learn why you got like that and how you get there that you can then build a better you at the end. So a little bit of depressing game-play done well might actually pay off. Just look at Papers, Please the award-winning paper-pushing-simulator.
