Did anyone buy out Iron Lore Entertainment or get the rights to Titan Quest?

Not that I'm aware, but I read that "legacy IPs" are getting auctioned off at a later time, like Homeworld.

Iron Lore has been defunct for many years, and the Titan Quest IP has not been mentioned on any press release after THQ's auction. So I guess it's one of the no-yet-sold assets.

Iron Lore wasn't owned by THQ. I think they went out of business long ago anyway, and I'm really not sure what happened to the rights for Titan Quest. It's possible and likely that the original developers still hold the rights to it, but it's also possible that THQ held the rights to the Titan Quest name.

It would be cool if Projekt Red buys out the rights in the auction for the legacy IP. Unlike Darksiders, it doesn't seem to have attracted much attention for getting passed over.

Love me some TQ. I hope it gets a GOG release somewhere down the line, but in the meantime it's (more or less) DRM-free over at GamersGate. I bought it for like $3.99 this past summer, not a bad catch. The CD key requires no online activation or anything and the install file can be easily extracted from the temporary folder their bootstrap installer creates.

Iron Lore Entertainment went bankrupt in 2008, mainly because Titan Quest didn't sold enough copies. It was enough to pay the bills, but not enough for a follow-up project.
Part of the Iron Lore guys started Crate Entertainment which is widely considered the legitimate successor of Iron Lore. They currently work on Grim Dawn which had a successful Kickstarter last year.

Crave Entertainment has the rights to the engine, but I'm guessing that THQ still has the IP rights.

Crate has the engine as its part of Grim Dawn... dont know the deal worked out but they even tried to get the TQ ip and had issues... so.... who knows whats really going to happen :(

The legacy IPs are going to be sold later, from what I have heard. Let us hope Sega buys Homeworld.

While TQ was a great game, there's little loss with the IP as it took Greek mythology and turned it into an complete mockery and abomination of itself, thanks to THQ execs.

Grim Dawn should continue everything TQ did right, improving on it and all is well.

Are you sure, I've been basing my studies on the Kevin Sorbo series "Hercules", and it seems fairly consistent?

What do you think the chances are that will actually happen, considering they own relic , would it interest Sega enough?
The game wasn't made for its authenticity....... Im actually quite excited of the prospect of this game as a backer :)

I backed that one on their website waaay before they did that Kickstarter. :)

Iron Lore was shut down by their publisher 2 weeks after shipping The Immortal Throne expac. Some of the old employees are currently working on Grim Dawn.
