sorry if this was discussed somewhere already (or if this is a do-not-ask question)...

I'd really like to buy this game but don't know if I should wait for it to appear here (T1 did so...) or just go ahead and buy from the developers. not that I'm in a hurry :)
Depends on the terms of the agreements between Runic, PWE and Steam. I would imagine that it will eventually show up here seeing as TL is here. But, I have no idea when that might be and I wouldn't expect much of a price drop if any at that point.

But, you might get some good swag and a copy without DRM.
don't care too much about the price, just don't want to buy it from the developer and see it a couple of days later released here :)

I wouldn't expect that. I think that if Runic was planning on releasing it here in the near future that they would have included GOG in the launch.

But, I know nothing more than anybody that doesn't work for GOG or Runic.
Don't take my word for it, but according to cw8, Max Schaefer mentioned in a Runic forum post that he intends to get the game on to GOG at a later date. Again, I have no sources to back me up; you'll have to check with cw8 on that.

That wouldn't surprise me at all. I think he knows all too well that we'll buy a copy now and then a second copy when it comes here.

That's diabolical.
Is there any DLC planned for Torchlight II? Perhaps its release here is being delayed until all the content is released.

Apparently not, or not paid DLC's at least, but maybe new content as and when, according to an interview to Kotaku:

http://kotaku.com/5945056/torchlight-ii-only-costs-20-so-more-people-can-play-it

""Part of our thing is that it's a $20 game, and once you start muddying the waters with paid DLC then it's like, well, it wasn't really $20," he said. "We wanna just avoid that whole thing entirely. We wanna just make it better and better and better."

TorchEd and modding in itself will (hopefully) bring a lot of extra community built content.
On the 1st of September I tweeted Runic Games:

@RunicGames Do you have any plans to release Torchlight II on GOG.com?

They responded:

@Barry_Woodward not yet.

Vote for it on the wishlist:

I imagine it will happen, but it's too bad that it wasn't a launch day release.
They just have terrible payment options on their own site, which is why I'm gonna wait for a GOG.com version. I fthey at least included Amazon...

I talked to several Runic devs and it's really a matter of not having had time to get an executable suitable for GOG ready (i.e. without DRM). That's also why they couldn't take pre-orders on their own, I think.

I suspect it'll be on GOG, TL had a DRM free boxed version available within 3 months, I think they have no problem with the lack of DRM or GOG.

Google Checkout isn't great, but it's far from horrible...

If the only option was Paypal I would most certainly agree, and I do prefer Amazon payments to Google, but really it's not horrid or anything.

I hope Torchlight 2 will get boxed version like the first one did. If not, GOG version would be okay, I guess. Sorry I am Old Fashioned.

Well, you have to create a Google account, which I have no intention of doing, so for me it's not an option.

But hey, I'm patient. I'm very content it's going to be released here sooner or later, even if it's going to be a couple of months/years,
Hope so
