Growing up in the Midwest region of the United States, the recent tornadoes throughout the region have really hit me close to home (figuratively and literally). The house I grew up in is still standing, though others cannot say the same. I actually went to the humble bundle site this morning expecting them to have Red Cross or a similar charity for the tornado victims set up as the beneficiary of the week, but was shocked to see that was not the case (nothing against Child's Play (the beneficiary of week). My dad's a doctor and I've seen first hand the positive impact they've had on sick kids). I'm hoping to petition GOG.com to have a sale where all (or at least the majority) of the profits go toward relief for the tornado victims. Post away with ideas.

No offense intended, but there have been various disasterous things happening worldwide this last week or two. As devastating as the tornado situation was / will continue to be, FEMA should have more than enough funding and resources on standby - whereas many of the other areas / countries that have been hit by such bad nes may well not.
Therefore, I would imagine the HB is avoiding such a possible point of tension and possibly hate towards the brand.
GOG may well do the same.

I do hope the people affected by the tornado(s) get sorted out, but I do feel that America should be able to sort it out without any hassle.

Hope your situation and that of those around you improves!

First off, thank you for your condolences. I actually no longer live in the Great Plains, but I still consider it home, and have many friends/family who live there. Second, yes there are MANY areas of the world hit by natural disaster, and not to put them down or sound selfish, but since this is MY home, it had a personal impact on me, and I thought I should bring attention to it. And finally, about FEMA...I really don't see how having a simple charity drive would cause "tension". The money would go toward a volunteer organization such as the Red Cross for relief.

For any World of Warcraft players out there, in the aftermath of the 2011 tsunami in Japan, Blizzard raised relief money by selling in game pets. I was hoping for something similar, except instead of selling World of Warcraft pets, GOG could sell nostalgic games.

By "tension" i meant more along the lines of forum based / international based tensions. I hope that makes some more sense - a little late here!

When things have gone similarly uptits in the UK, my own experience is that bands are often the first to make a move on fundraising. perhaps theres an agle there? - any well known / doing well bands from the areas affected?

Sorry for the delay in my response. My computer has been in the shop this week. I think I understand what you are saying about the "tension" thing, but to the Red Cross, it's not US>the rest of the world. If there was a natural disaster in the UK that has killed hundreds of people and left thousands more homeless like the tornadoes, my bet is that they would be there the next day to provide relief. In response to your question about musicians, there actually was a concert in Oklahoma City the other night to raise funds, and the Kansas City Royals (the professional baseball team closest to the area affected) were raising money as well...but it doesn't need to always start with musicians. Anyone should be able to help out, including gamers. If you don't support the idea, well then don't. I'm most likely going to repost this idea with a much more eye-catching title since it doesn't really seem like too many people have given this post a look.

Indigala.com raised some charity money for the Emilia earthquake that happend exactly last year ago.
My folks live there so I was personaly involved as well.
I was quite impressed and happy to see this kind of charity pop up in addition of those standard ones...
They region still suffers from the earthsquake aftermath and one year later no funds have been pour out. It is said that they are blocked or stuck somewhere.
Anyway, back on topic:
you might try your luck with the standard "bundle sellers" but normally this charity concept is still a "national" thing. People are more moved by their own problems, less by their neighbor's and almost nigh by those across "the great lake" methinks.

Fair enough! And good to see on the oklahoma / baseball thing too!
I do support the idea, but i think at the time I was merely trying to suggest it would not be a priority for many due to other (more locally or relations -wise) pressing news at the time. I meant no offnse by that!

On another note - as to the UK, I've no doubt aid would arrive, my point was more a case of FEAM should be able to take care of it! - I didnt mean they will, nor that others should not get involved. Sorry if i upset you, confused you or caused any unwelcome mood and the likes!
I'll gladly see if theres anything I can do to help with whatever idea you come out with!
