Pokemon Trading Card Game! ;p

Ubivis: Yes, there was a quite active community a couple of years ago :)

Too bad, one of the major improvements (all of the card able to be edited on your own in a handy excel file) has been lost :(

We have added a lot of cards up to 8th edition.
I suspect that I'm going to be quite confused when I try it. I stopped playing Magic just before 5th edition ended (and just dipped my toes into it again in 2001), so there will be a lot of strange new cards & new rules that I don't know much about.
Also, does these improvements work in the adventure mode, or is it just for the multiplayer segment?

New cards are also available in Shandalar ;)

Wonderful! Time to re-learn magic, I guess.
Spectromancer comes to mind. There's also a pokemon card game online I think, think I saw Totalbiscuit playing it for a bit.

Thank you for all the great suggestions so far everyone.

I will definately try Might and Magic Duel of Champions. I hope it stays F2P for a while longer.

The 1997 release of Magic: The Gathering is also very interesting especially with a fan patch and added cards. Anyone know the best way to buy it?

I loved the card games in FF8 and FF9. I would really want a standalone version of Tetra Master from FF9.

I'l check out Spectromancer aswell.

I loved the Pokemon Trading Card Game too. :)
Does Runespell count? Never played it, but I heard it's quite good.

Also I found a copy of MTG:Battlegrounds in a bargain bin several years ago and I kind of liked it. Not a masterpiece but fun, fast paced and varied enough.

It will be F2P forever (well that's what they are saying) but we all know how some F2P game turn to be P2W :P

That's very good to know but very odd aswell. Where's the revenue going to come from then? Selling cards for real money? Advertising deals?
there's the Culdcept series.

For sure there will be premium acc (for money) that give you faster exp/gold, tbh don't remember what about other things.
Think its on the gameboy or nintendo atleast but err yugioh maybe
Card Fighters Clash was one of the best titles on the Neo Geo Pocket Color. One of the absolute must-haves along with Sonic Pocket Adventure and Match of the Millennium. :D

Phantom Dust wasn't strictly a card game, but you built a deck and it shared a lot of the same fundamentals of great card game, but in the form of an action game. Very well executed, it was far better than it sounds on paper. You can still play and enjoy Card Fighters Clash. NGPC are fairly cheap and still have a handful of excellent games.

As for Phantom Dust, the old Xbox Live is dead, the split-screen two-player is weak but if you can get a system link game going (either locally or through tunneling), it can be a lot of fun, but probably more trouble than it's worth these days. It desperately needs a re-release. I'd be partial to a PC version, myself. ;)

I second Spectromancer - it is actually one of my most played games on Steam now. It is just so darn relaxing and playable, I like a game with no stress what so ever sometimes.

edit:
There are some online ones, for example:
Tyrant
Cardian
Kongai
Necronomicon: Book of dead names
Mytheria
Card Monsters
HD: Spectrum
to mention a few from Kongregate
