I installed Motocross Madness 2 today from the install cd. I loaded the game and everything looked fine in the menus, but when I started a race, the graphics were terribly corrupted. I've attached an image showing what it looks like. The sound and controls work, but since I can't see anything, the game is completely unplayable

Note:

All other games I have work perfectly.
I have run MCM2 on this computer with this video card before.
I am running it in Windows XP with SP2. I have been able to run it on this OS perfectly before.
My video drivers are up to date.

The only thing I can think of is that I have installed .NET so that I could play some games (like the Xtended Source Port of DBTS). I don't know why that would cause a problem though. I doesn't affect anything else.

I have tried changing all the game specific settings in the Nvidia Control Panel which had no effect.

The problem exists in all resolutions and graphical settings, unless I run it in the software renderer. However, that looks really pixelated, ugly, and the game runs poorly (low fps).

Does anyone know why this is happening and how to fix it?

I forgot to mention that I also tried running it in compatibility mode.

For good measure I reinstalled the most recent video card drivers again.

It still has the problem.
Damn... I know I had a similar problem and fixed it, just can't remember how. Something about resolutions and color palette? Z-buffer or something or other. Or is it removed dithering support? Might not even be related.

Damn, I'm so sleepy. Not gonna go over my manual entry fixlog right now. Sorry.

Anyway, if it worked before and doesn't work now, it's weeeery probably something to do with the new nvidia drivers.

Ah well, I needed that coffee anyway.

So, I made a quick install to check if my copy still works on my rig. Like a charm. Well, a crash or two between buddies, but otherwise the graphics are okay. Resolution and everything else on max (not that it shows drastically).

Because I'm using ATI Radeon 6870 with latest drivers, I don't know if that rules modern drivers out or it's just nvidia's. .NET is installed here to the max, so that can't be it.

Oh, I'm using Win7 64bit, I'm gonna have a hard laughing fit if it's actually the OS on your end corrupting the graphics.

You were right about the drivers. I reinstalled the old drivers I had and it fixed the problem with MCM2.

Sadly, that caused a bunch of problems for other games that really need the updated drivers. I guess now I get to spend my time downloading a variety of driver versions and seeing which one works for everything.
For those who may be interested to know, I downloaded several different versions of nVidia drivers and tested them all. The older drivers work with Motocross Madness 2, but have problems with newer games. Newer drivers have the opposite problem. They work with newer games, but present this problem with MCM2. The only driver version I could find that worked with everything were the nVidia GeForce Win XP drivers, version number 285.58.
