Well, You're supposed to make the declaration 'til the end of April, so i guess they'll be fining You anyway. But i'm not really an expert on that. Taxes, money, electricity and electronics are black magic to me.

May 2nd was the official deadline according to the news and such.

Oh, i see it now, interesting. Well, then, hope You got it right, and they won't tell You, You need to pay a few thousand ASAP. My friend had that misfortune, every year, he had a 1,5k tax return, this year, he got hit with a 5,5k underpayment. Ouch.;)

Oh damn that hurts. Do they do audits in Poland? I remember one of the fears of the American taxpayer was the IRS coming around to do an audit...just because they felt like it. I think they scare children with this myth.

It's like a control? They come into a company and check the papers? They sure do.
And so do IP's [Inspekcja Pracy]. Curiously, Urzad Skarbowy is supposed to be in charge of checking for illegal software in companies too. So, i guess now it's a full cavity search for companies. But i guess they do them randomly, and not often, especially the IPs, i think they only move their a$$es when someone calls them and tells them, his neighbour has some illegal workers helping him with his leaking roof or something.

A tax audit is when the IRS (the US version of Urzad Skarbowy) comes into your place of business or home and you have to show every single little receipt, your records etc. So yes audit = kontrola z piekla rodem.

But they love to harass only small / family business. Any real, big scale frauds - no, these are mysteriously 'protected' or invisible for the clerks :P

Because it's easier to harass a small company and suck them dry of funds. That and the fact that the bigger businesses have more money for bribes :D.

Few years ago I wanted to change faucet in my bathroom. It required a bit effort because to do this you had to remove also sink. I called a plumber, described him a problem and asked about the price – he said 150 PLN. WTF?! So I did it myself – took 2 hours and a dozen of curses but I’ve managed. I still don’t like clerk/plumber/painter work but I like cash saved by doing their job at home :-).

You are a miner. You get early retirement :D and a job that's got a union behind it :P.

I'd do it myself without cursing probably. But 150PLN is not 23,75PLN. I believe my nerves and self integrity is more important than money, i don't do things i don't believe in. I believe we have clerks to do clerk work, until they do so, i'll use other clerks do to the job.

Oh, and 150 is a ripoff, did that price at least include the new faucet?.;>
