So I recently got a new graphics card and it came with a Dirt 3 Steam key. I don't like racing games unless they are like Mario Kart, so I will never play this game.

Anyway want it? Just post in this thread and I'll random it to someone on New Years.

I've heard a lot in the past about Dirt 3 keys bundled with gfx cards - weren't all of these "banned" after leak? Just asking. :)

They were? Why would they still be giving them out then...
Any idea where this information is?

First link from google http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2098484 but I do not know if this case is already finished or still open.
That's why I asked you ;)

I'll contact Steam support and see what they say.

Yes, that would be good thing to do - and share this info with us after their reply :)
Well Steam support finally responded. Here is what I asked:

"I recently bought a Radeon HD graphics card after my old one went out. I received it a few days ago and it came with a Dirt 3 redemption code.
I'm wondering if it is safe to use this. I heard that Dirt 3 keys are banned because of the leak a few months back. So should I just forget the code, or is it safe for me to use it or give it away? "

the response is:

"Hello [Immoli],
Thank you for contacting Steam Support.
Only the CD Keys that were leaked were banned and removed from accounts.
For any further information or assistance with that CD Key, you will need to contact AMD.
If you have any further questions, please let us know - we will be happy to assist you. "

So, I think that means it is safe?
Maybe you can email them the code for them to double check and verify it? They must have some master list available.
Wow, that's a confusing reply you got from Steam. If over 1000 Dirt 3 Steam keys were leaked, who's to say the one you just got was also part of the list that was leaked? I personally wouldn't trust using it unless you email'd Steam support with the Steam key and who you're giving it to.

That being said, I wouldn't mind having Dirt 3 to test out the new gamepad I bought. ;o

Steam is telling you to contact AMD about the cd key. They will probably ask you what your cd key is to see if it matches any keys that were leaked. If it does, they might give you a new key to use on Steam.
Better yet, just drop that key on Google. If it shows up on a key list, then it won't work. If it doesn't, then you're in the clear. :P

That makes sense. Guess I'll try to do that. Thanks.

No hits on Google or Bing, still might contact AMD to be safe though.
