Using "FocusWriter" writing software for a piece that needs to be in very soon. Unfortunately it doesn't include any dictionaries for its spellcheck. My Win 7 installation doesn't appear to include any (or I can't find them at any rate - but all it came with was wordpad), and both
OpenOffice and
LibreOffice
do NOT have British English listed.

OpenOffice actually has an entry I found through a deep bit of wider web searching - but regardless of its title, it is NOT British English.

Whats even weirder is the fact that this is for an American publication, and part of the reason I'm doing the job is because I'm British (can't really say anymore due to NDA), and therefore my use of the language / spellings etc.

Ideas?! - I'm 5,000 words in. Normally of course I'd say "Spellcheck is for hippies!" - which it is, but hippies don't get paid to use it.

Libreoffice definitely does have British English, it's just listed under English(UK)
I think the British Eng option for open office might be helpful, but I am not sure.

Hmmm. don't really want to install more software, but this is a tight spot... will have a look. If it doesn't recognise "Numpty" or "skran" though, it be fooked!

Edit: ah... i think its the same language pack...

Also check this-

http://extensions.libreoffice.org/extension-center?getCategories=Dictionary&getCompatibility=any&sort_on=positive_ratings&path=%2FLibreOffice-Extensions-and-Templates%2Fextension-center&portal_type=PSCProject&SearchableText=british

It mentions British Eng in the description.

Here are some directions shared by others:

cmdr_flashheart:
Thanks - initially it seemed to be the same file i found before (that was every NON-British version), but it seems to have worked - no grammar, but it will do for a fix right now. If the editor is only gonna have a headache with Capitalisation ans spaces - keeping the language intact, then job done from my end.
Cheers!
No problem, hope it goes well!
