Playing this StarWars Bioware MMO I caught the Force-Fever.

So I wondered, is Jedi Academy already abandonware, does Disney now hold the property, does it work with WIN7 64, are there any mods that make it even cooler?

I really loved that game, just enough action and story which awesome lightsaber combat and very good Force Power implementation. A pity I no longer have a working physical copy...
No, it is not abandonware, it is available on Steam. Maybe on GameStop as well.
Yes it does work with Win 7 64, at least on my PC. I don't think any mod is necessary but I know there are some available. Maybe someone can tell you more. I tried some many years ago and it didn't work for me.
A lot of them are multiplayer ones, IIRC.

Its on steam and well worth playing, provided you have already finished jedi knight outcast...
You can buy Jedi Academy on Steam. There are a bunch of mods but I've never tried them. I think 'Movie Battles' was supposed to be pretty popular.

The game was actually open sourced just a couple of months ago. Expect good things in the future.
I actually lucked out. I found a physical copy about a month ago in a book store and picked it up. I haven't had a chance to try to get it running yet however
There is already a source port in the works:

I picked up a copy a few years ago for not much on Amazon. Pointing out that I have never played Force Unleashed, it is in my opinion the best "Jedi-Shooter" HANDS DOWN. The first few Jedi Knight games are fun but very dated and Outcast was good but shit, you didn't become a Jedi until halfway through and Kyle could always be a bit of a whiner. The level on the moving tram is worth the price of the game alone not to mention the user friendly ability to learn certain combos allowing you to kick the shit out of even top flight baddies so long as you have the moves down.

Call me a terminal child but I still get a huge kick every time I nail the back/spin/swipe kill.

Wait a minute, how many games called "Jedi Academy" are there because I don't recall mine being MMO.

Amen, brother.

Although I played Jedi Outcast more often as it was my first to play and I have soft spot for it, I agree that JA is better and it is more entertaining.

He played Star Wars MMO (The Old Republic I guess) and he got Force-Fever and now he is looking for Jedi Academy.

Jedi Academy is a good game. Nothing special, but interesting enough to play through it at least once. I particularly enjoyed the ability to customise your lightsaber.
Thank you for the valuable information thus far.

That was my second best level, I preferred the tomb level where you were quite an advanced Jedi and could force push or force choke the dark Jedis into the chasms or pushing them over ledges and bridges. That never got old. I think I replayed that level over 100 times and found some hilarious combat situations each time.

Lightsaber combat wasn't really my strong point. But the Jedi Powers, man that was awesome...
Grabbing a Remnant Trooper with Force Choke and slamming him against the ceiling then pushing him with Force Push against another was just priceless...

There should be a Skyrim mod for that. There is already force lighting and Force Push (Fus Ro Dah) so actually you could really make a new Jedi Academy out of that Engine.
This and Outcast had the best lightsaber combat in Star Wars gaming history. Lightsaber parries felt like parries, hitting the enemy felt authentic, The time I spent replaying the levels which had lightsaber combat was pretty extensive. And the no force powers, saber only multiplayer matches, loved them. And the 1v1 saber duels lol, where everyone else was a spectator.

Not to mention the movie fights mod and the many other mods like hilts and lightsaber sounds.

Oh yeah, I replayed that level alot. Playing with both the force and lightsaber combat with the enemy masters.
