Very interesting.

What do you guys think?
"When I was your age I had to walk to my games for five miles in three feet of snow both ways. Uphill. In my grandfather's pajamas..."

that reminds me of comparison between casual, hardcore games and dwarf fortress.
2004 looked pretty much the same as 1994. Only the player is screaming @#%@#%ing CAMERA the entire time.
I am unable to comprehend how I managed to beat Kabuki Quantum Fighter on my Famicom back when I was 7 (or 8) years old. Now I have a hard time beating it while cheating.

Some modern games are hard to beat, too. It's mostly because they get so boring, but it keeps you from finishing all the same.
so very true
Depends on the game, really... You can't say this is true for every game, obviously those developers dedicated to making things challenging will disagree.

Starcraft 2 on Brutal difficulty is an example of this... I was almost in happy tears when I finished the campaign.

I'm scared of facing you on the ladder. :( I have yet to perfect the build order.

Don't worry, I'm not that good right now, because I cannot play with my current internet connection. :(

I was 9-2 against diamond players (before they introduced the master and grandmaster leagues), but really can't play with this internet connection now... During the day the down speed is around 80kbps... add the three laptops that are constantly using it, and it is a pain in the ass to play with it.

Maybe in a few months it will be better (once I get an optical one). :)

So I'm playing mostly Custom Games now, practicing and all that. Hopefully they'll allow people to play across regions, and then maybe we'll have a battle? :D

Hey, don't look at me cause I'm German.
True, but my main problem is that in newer games the "harder" difficulties just mean that enemies take thousands of bullets to take down. This is why I always end up playing on Easy. Not because I can't handle Hard but because it's just too boring.

And in older games, it meant that you died for arbitrary stupid reasons.

My average APM in multiplayer at best was 50-55. Not quite that good.
A lot of old games are harder because of bad design.

Being good at scouting is a lot more important than having a good APM count.
